Purpose

This document outlines the clinical privileges granted to Dr. Rameez Akthar, ensuring the provision of high-quality

Scope of Clinical Privileges

1. Outpatient Services

 Conduct consultations and evaluations for adult and pediatric patients with acute and chronic conditions.

 Diagnose and treat common medical conditions, including:

o Respiratory tract infections

o Hypertension and diabetes management

o Gastrointestinal disorders

 Prescribe medications and lifestyle interventions for disease prevention and management.

2. Inpatient Services

 Manage hospitalized patients with non-surgical medical conditions.

 Provide diagnostic and therapeutic services for conditions such as:

o Infectious diseases

o Cardiac and respiratory disorders

o Renal dysfunction

 Coordinate care with specialists for patients requiring multidisciplinary management.

3. Diagnostic and Procedural Services

 Perform and interpret basic diagnostic procedures, including:

o ECG

o Spirometry

o Point-of-care ultrasound (if trained and credentialed)


 Request and interpret advanced investigations such as imaging and laboratory tests.

4. Emergency and Critical Care Services

 Manage medical emergencies, including:

o Acute respiratory distress

o Stroke stabilization

o Cardiac emergencies (arrhythmias, acute coronary syndromes)

 Provide Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) as needed.

 Oversee care in high-dependency or step-down units for medical patients.

5. Preventive and Wellness Care

 Conduct regular health check-ups and screenings.

 Counsel patients on preventive health strategies, including:

o Vaccinations

o Smoking cessation

o Nutritional and exercise planning

6. Multidisciplinary Collaboration

 Work collaboratively with specialists for referrals and co-management of complex cases.

 Provide pre-operative assessments for patients undergoing surgical procedures.

 Guide rehabilitation planning with physiotherapists and dietitians for chronic diseases.
