The purpose of this guide is to provide a comprehensive, detailed, authentic and one of a kind guidance for various entrance

examinations of Pakistani universities. The guidance is written in way that will help even below average student to excel in
those entrance exams/tests. The guidance will be provided in non – traditional way that means we will cover all pre-
requisites of each topic regardless of whether it is our FSC course textbooks, entry tests specific books ( KIPS, STEP, TORCIA
OETP etc ) or not, for example trigonometry for Pre – Medical students as it is necessary to master the physics, ratios before
starting introduction to trigonometry & polygons before trigonometry and many more. The one main goal of this guide is to
achieve not the bare minimum marks for the desired field of a candidate rather to achieve higher marks , for example 168+
in NET, 300+ in ECAT, 85+ etc.

The universities/tests for which this guide has been made are listed below :
Test University / Universities Test types & test details for which this guide has been made
NET NUST (All campuses) NET – Engineering

You can also use this guide for other tests such as NUTECH, ITU, AIR etc

The guidance will be provided separately for all subjects, with mind maps/road maps.
 This guide has been made with keeping the view in mind that this might be the learner’s first time
switching from RATTA System to Conceptual & Practical System and also this might be the first time
the learner came to know about NOTES, NOTES Taking, Periodic Revision etc.
 Furthermore this will be useful for all those students who have shifted from Matric (Arts)

So, this guide will surely be an incredible guide ( )

Sections Subject(s) Student Stream(s)
I Fundamentals of Mathematics(For all streams) For all students
II Advanced Mathematics ( FSC Part – 1 & Part – 2 ) ADV Math: Only for those who have ADV Math in FSC
Basic Mathematics (FAST NUCES) Only for FAST Nu test candidates

Basic Mathematics is necessary for all students, it will cover:

i) Several pre – requisites required to understand the concepts of all Science subjects easily.
ii) Another BASIC – MATHEMATICS is mentioned in the Section – III – Physics, but that is for Pre – Medical Students
only.
iii) It will eventually help the students in those tests in which there is a portion of BASIC – Mathematics, such as
NTS – NAT , AIR uni test etc.
I. The level of prep required for IQ/Intelligence/Logical Reasoning differ in different tests and the
same goes for English.
II. The guide includes quantitative reasoning also.
The Guide is divided in two sections

 The Fundamental Math is indeed necessary for understanding various concepts, such as the concepts of ratios for trigonometry, fractions &
decimals simple equations, further equations ( quadratic ), the concept of area, volume, exponents & powers , concept of variable, visualizing the
various shapes ( 2D (Plane) & 3D (Space) ), mensuration, proportions, factorization, basic geometry (from zero level).

 Note that the basic geometry includes the maximum basic concepts of geometry starting from 2D/plane geometry such as point, line, line
segment, ray, various shapes such as triangles, quadrilaterals ( in general polygons ) & their properties.

 In order to have a solid grip on graphs , analytical – geometry, conic sections, trigonometry etc you must grasp the concepts of basic geometry
such as various shapes & their properties like for example various properties of triangles & circles etc.

Adding further
In triangles you need the concept of ratios & after understanding the triangles , trigonometry will not be an issue for you ( INSHA – ALLAH ).
The strategical path will be provided in the form of mind maps/road maps, online resources, interactive softwares & most importantly the
experience of mine.

 You can skip anything if you think that you don’t need to do this as you had done this before or you have previous concepts.
 There is no need to do each and every word from above resources, you need concepts & practice only.
 Now after completion of Fundamental Mathematics , you need to learn “How to find the square root by long division method”. This is
compulsory for all
Students.
 For Pre – Meds , you guys need to learn the graph of sine (sin) & cosine (cos) upto 360 degrees.
This is necessary to learn how the graph of sine & cosine behave in the interval of

For understanding let us solve the following question (This type of question came in my two NETs)

Question: A force of 10N displaces a body to 10m, doing a work done of 56 then angle between force & displacement is ?
Solution: cos( )
cos( )

cos( ) cos( ) cos( ) ( )

We know that cos( )= but for which angle cos gives the value 0.56

Options: ) ) ) )

Lets look to the graph of cosine

We can see that at 60 degrees the value is 0.5 & we can also see that the value of cos decreases as the angle increase from 0 to 90 degress
That means at 62 & 65 degrees the value will be less than 0.56 and at 60 degrees the value is 0.5, now we are left with two choices
59.5 degress & 56 degrees, again considering the graph, we can derive that value at 59.5 degrees will be closer to 0.5 but the value at 56 degress will
be bigger than 0.5 so 56 degrees is our answer.

You can use online web recourses such as google search engine, geobera graphing calculator.
 If you have any confusion in above concepts, simply search the google, then on youtube.
 You can also take lectures on youtube (search the topic name on youtube) but try to save time as you have to learn other subjects too that are
awaiting of your completion of Basic Mathematics.

 The GeoGebra graphing calculator is used to show/plot different graphs, shapes etc.
For example you can plot different lines or you can plot different shapes to investigate
their properties.
 GeoGebra graphing calculator is available as online web version & can also be download and installed as software in your computer.
Online web version Download link
I have used it to study analytical geometry, basic geometry, conic sections, functions & their graphs, properties of geometrical shapes etc.
 You can also use Chat – GPT but you must confirm the answer by google.
 You must know how to deal with decimals (that is covered in Basic – Mathematics), and with decimals square, cube, higher powers, square root,
cube root & other roots.

Some links (youtube) are as given below:

It is necessary to do fundamental math before basic & adv math. After the
This section follows the Section – I ( Fundamental Mathematics ). Completion of fundamental math you can start basic or adv math or both.

Completion of Fundamental – Math Logarithms 1st Year Math (PTB)

Ch – 1 Number Systems (except the topic (trigonometric form of complex numbers)
Ch – 4 Quadratic Equations Ch – 2 Sets, Functions & Groups
Trigonometry Ch – 9 to Ch – 14
Ch – 1 Number Systems ( only trigonometric form of complex numbers )
Remaining chapters in number wise

2nd Year Math (PTB)

Ch – 1 Functions and Limits Ch – 4 Introduction to Analytica Geometry
Remaining chapters in number wise Ch – 5 Linear Programming

Warning !! : It is to be told that the 2nd Year Mathematics is the combination of Calculus & Anaytical geometry. To grasp the concepts of calculus
strongly you must have a thorough understanding of algebra, geometry & trigonometry.
Don’t start differentiation before limits or integration before differentiation or limits The whole dynamic of Calculus depends upon Limits &
functions. In addition to above topics you must have a thorough experience of algebraic manipulation such as (given below)
Consider the following examples:
a)
) ( ) ( )

So using this concept

x-1=0 => x=1

so we get two solutions as : x=0 or x=1

let us look on to the other way

) ( )

We get only one solution here!!!

WHAT IS THE REASON???????

The thing lie in the domain concept

As solving ( )
In the other way we assumed that the x can be anything except 0 so we divided by x

Always choose the factorization method to prevent loss of roots .The better way to write is as given below
( )

This concept is backbone of limits

As consider

lim

( ) ( )( )

Instead we can use the concept as x approaches to 2 x+2 approaches to 4(its gets closer and closer to 4 but it will never become 4 (as x ))
so limit is 4

3 5 7 9 11
2 2 2 2

It will be possible that the third difference or 3rd+ difference is constant ( this type of sequences are super important for Business & Social Sciences
NET )
In addition to above concepts, students must do plenty of mcqs related to box reasoning (use youtube and web for this purpose)
Must do the past papers !
Search on google if there is a confusion, and do send that question in Whatsapp groups (linked are provided at the end of this guide).

 The whole syllabus of English is in OETP Business & Social Sciences Edition 3.
Resources :
Use OETP Business & Social Sciences Edition 3 and check all topics, do questions from it, from past papers, google the mcqs etc
Drive by a NUSTIAN
KIPS English practice book KIPS English prep book ( Note that these books are really for English portion (especially for Business & Social
Sciences NET ), Use OETP alongside with KIPS and if needed use these lectures.
These are 5+ Notes by different students (use the one that you like).
The best way to prepare vocabulary is to use past papers, learn new words daily, some of their synonyms & antonyms etc.
Flashcards are most underrated thing, use youtube to learn how to make then, use them and what are they & what are their benefits.
Do join the groups as students will share their NET question when NET start. There are always some chances of repeating those questions in further
NETs.
Use youtube and web. Tarun Grover & Dear Sir are one of most popular channels for English.

There is no structural chart for English provided here, you have to prepare the English in the
order as provided in KIPS book.
Last Section – Preparation Strategy

Pick a topic

PTB & lectures +make notes alongside & do practice questions presented in lectures (remember if you are taking lectures of Indian teachers, skip the
difficult questions, quizzes and anything that is not relevant to PTB

After taking the lectures, solve OETP, KIPS (for Physics prefer STEP over KIPS) & must do questions of that topic from past papers, use tricks booklet,
notes alongside (for CS if possible then use PTB and notes only don’t use kips or anything as CS is easiest portion of NET) but if needed you can do
KIPS and other resources For any student other than Business Social Sciences don’t prepare for English in the start of your preparation, invest this
time in other subjects

If you encounter any difficulty in solving the mcq, take some time to solve that mcq & if that question was successfully solved but had taken more time
then search for short tricks of that type of question

Make notes, add things from tricks booklet and other resources. Revise the notes before finishing your work

Start next day with the revision of your previous notes

After each month do revision of previous month’s work after 3 – 4 months revise all previous work, in each revision solve the mcqs from past
papers and if needed use other resources too
Start doing the FLPs at least 13 days before you test and do revision before that and also along side and then complete your revision and do 2 – 3 FLPs
after completion of revision
Sleep well (at least 6 hours per day), do take care of your health, Pray to the

 Stick with PTB, Make notes & do repeated recall/revision.

 Practice is necessary to ace the entrance tests.
To ace the entrance tests you must have/do:
 Make notes.
 Use memorization when needed. Avoid ratta and rote learning!!!!!
 Revision (daily).
 Practice.
 Make you pace fast gradually.
 You need concepts but you also need correct concepts.
 Do solve tests & mock test (FLPs  Full length practice tests)
FLPs: [1] [2] [3] start doing these 10 days before you test
 Make a copy of your mistakes, that’s write the mistakes you have done in
separate copy/register, and minimize doing them.
 FLPs are necessary for time management.
 Don’t panic

Last Words
