Q1. List the differences between hardware and software.


Ans. 1-
HARDWARE SOFTWARE
1. These are physical parts of the computer. 1. It is a set of programs (instructions).
2. It can be seen and touched. 2. It cannot be touched.
3. Example- Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, Mobile, etc. 3. Example- Games, Music, Windows, etc.

Q2. What is a software? Name its types.


Ans. 2- Software is a set of programs (instructions) designed to perform particular work. It cannot be touched.
Example- Games, Music, Windows, etc. They are of 2 types-
I. System Software
II. Application Software

Q3. What is an Input device? Give any three examples.


Ans. 3- Devices used to enter data like names, numbers, words, images or sound into a computer are called
input devices. Example- Keyboard, Mouse, Microphone.

Q4. Which part of system software help computer to work? What are its functions?
Ans. 4- Operating system is a part of system software that helps computer to work. Example- Windows 10.
Functions of operating system are-
I. It controls the working of Input and Output (I/O) devices.
II. It helps to run application software like MS word, Paint, etc.

Q5. Which type of software is used to keep record of books?


Ans. 5- Library Management Software (LMS) is a special purpose application software used to keep record of
books.
