LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS GRADE 1

Objectives: Additional of Two-One digit number with sums up to 18 using the order or
zero properties of addition.
Materials: Pictures of fruits, flowers and animals, Power Point Presentation, Board and
chalk.
Introduction: ( 5minutes )

Hook: The teacher will ask and show books to the pupils, then ask them, how many
books are there in Power Point Presentation .
Objectives: The teacher will present the lesson to the pupils.

( ex: Our topic for this afternoon is about addition of two-one digit number )
Concrete Phase: ( 10minutes )

Activity: The teacher will put pictures of mangoes on the board then ask the pupils,
how many, what color and size is it.
( ex:🥭🥭🥭 and 🥭🥭🥭🥭 is 🥭🥭🥭🥭🥭🥭🥭 )

What the color of the mangoes?, What is the size of the mangoes?
Exercise: Ask pupils to count each mangoes and write it on the board.

Discussion: Ask pupils to explain how does it became seven ( total numbers )

Pictorial Phase: ( 10minutes )

Activity: The teacher will put of rose on the board then ask the pupils how many, what
color and have they already seen it.
( ex:🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 and 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 is 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹)

What is the color of the rose? Have you already seen it?
Exercise: Ask pupils to count each rose and write it on the board.

Discussion: Ask pupils to explain how does it became fifteen ( total numbers )

Abstract Phase: ( 10minutes )

Activity: Explain on how to count and add numbers.

Exercise: Show the equation / problem then ask them to solve it with real numbers

( ex: 6 and 7 is ) , ( ex: 14 and 4 is)


Discuss further on the problem to the pupils, so they could understand well the lesson.
Practice: Have pupils to solve the equation using stick line.

Practice: ( 10minutes )

Group work: Divide the class into 4 groups ; Give them printed pictures of animals and
ask them to solve it.
( ex: I will divide you into 4 groups, to then each group will solve the pictures of the
animals, assigned to them. for instance, I give them 3 pictures of rabbits and 4 pictures
of rabbits, and you will them, first and add them orally. After you solve it you will imitate
the sound of that animal ).
Sharing: Each group will present their task.

Conclusion: ( 5minutes )

Recap: Review the process on how to solve it two-one digit addition

Assessment: Give pupils 3 items assessment , then answer it on their paper.

( ex: 1. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 + 🌹🌹🌹🌹 = , 2. 10+5= , 3. 14+4= )

Homework:

Task: Give pupils two time assignment, they write it on their notebook.
