Statement of Purpose

My father, my ideal person, signified to me at an early age that the pursuit of


excellence is the greatest Nobel act one can do, and this has come to stay with me through all
of my accomplishments thus far. Through him, I came to know how to turn adversities and
challenges into success. To fulfil my dreams and follow my passion, I would like to pursue
my master's in a well-established and prestigious University like yours. I know it is quite a
bigger dream. But it is a crucial decision taken to learn more based on my experiences in my
life. Because in the end, when we strive to become better, everything around us reflects the
same.

Firstly, I would like to give you a little background about me. When I started my
schooling, I understood that what surrounds us is what makes us. The vibrant atmosphere at
my school kindled my interest in science at an early age. Mathematics is a nightmare for
many people, but for me, it was one of the reasons to go to school every day. Rather than
simply solving Mathematical problems, I loved the activity of playing with numbers in it and
experienced fun in learning and exploring something new every day. My interest in
Mathematics and physics sailed me through comfortably to a GPA score of 9.2 and senior
secondary education with major subjects as Mathematics, physics and chemistry from
Narayana College with a highly commendable aggregate of 92.8% marks in the year 2016.
Along with being an academically deft and technically adept student, I was also an extremely
amiable and gregarious personality who was universally liked by my fellow peers and
teachers alike.

As I grew older, my affinity for learning mathematics and science grew steeper and
engineering became my interest. I chose "Electronics and Communication Engineering" as
my major during my undergrad. As an undergraduate, I was always an active, diligent, and
hardworking student. I have graduated with an aggregate of 6.94 CGPA during my
undergrad, my college curriculum introduced me to C programming, Operating systems, and
basic computing, which made me do projects like "Calculator," "Snake Game," and many
more. While doing these projects, I was intrigued by the fact that computers and
programming are expeditiously changing the course of the entire world, making life seem to
be much easier and more comfortable by just combining 0 and 1 in different configurations.

My eagerness to learn concepts in Computer Science compelled me to take a Python


Course and, subsequently, opt for Web Technologies and Database Management Systems for
my projects. These courses have enabled me to acquire knowledge, and the corresponding
laboratories provided an in-depth understanding of the concepts and hands-on experience
both theoretically as well as practically. As I firmly believe that practice makes a man
perfect, I have made programming a part of my everyday routine.

During my undergrad, I have done my internship on "Kidney Illness Prediction". In


this project, the usage of several supervised algorithms are used before handling the data, data
cleansing is done in order to enhance the project. Later on, many algorithms were used to
predict the illness. Based on the Accuracy, Recall and ROC&AUC curve, the best algorithm
was selected and used for predicting. While working on this project, the seed of learning
towards Machine learning and some Algorithms has aroused. During this period, I have
gained knowledge on basics of data mining, SQL, analytics of data handling which fascinated
me to enhance my skills by pursuing Masters. As part of my academics, my major project
involved a mixture of electronics and computer science. In "Secure Hash Algorithm - 512",
the entire setup was developed to calculate the FPGA reading and the readings were
displayed using a dashboard developed using Matlab and Python along with a local server
supported by ngrok.

This interest in the computer science domain has evolved me to acquire a standard job
in Meirtec Solutions, which led me to enhance my domain skills in the industry to identify
and use them. I have been working as a Junior Data Analyst for the past 2 year 2 months till
date. During these 2 year 2 months, I had exposure to real time industry problems. This
experience in a software company has led me to decide on what exact domain I have to
strengthen my skills and extend my boundaries.

As a person with a diverse set of interests, I took part in a variety of extracurricular


activities throughout high school and college, which helped me develop as a well-rounded
individual. Over the last several years, I've also discovered my love for adventure, which has
taken me to new locations and introduced me to individuals from all walks of life. I aspire to
build on these qualities in the coming years and tread the entrepreneurial path in the future,
establishing my firm.

Putting together "why university of Nevada, Reno" in one sentence, I would say it is
the best place to enhance my skills and master my dreams.

Today, I consider myself extremely fortunate to have acquired the credentials to


confidently apply for a Master's in Information Systems at University of Nevada, Reno. I
believe that being a part of famous research groups at your institution will enhance my
motivation. Your graduate program would provide me with an ideal platform to explore my
creativity and propel my skill-set to master my dreams in software methodologies. I hope my
candidacy meets your academic requirements and provides me with the opportunity to
expand my knowledge.
