2- Determine the Quartiles: Q1, Q2 and Q3

𝑄1 = (1 - 𝑔) ∗ 𝑥 (𝑖 + 1) + 𝑔 ∗ 𝑥 (𝑖 + 2)
𝑄1 = 25% ⟹ p = 0.25 ∵ (𝑛 - 1) ∗ 𝑝 = 𝑖 + 𝑔
∴ (12 - 1) ∗ 0.25 = 2.75 = 𝑖 + 𝑔
∴ 𝑖 = 2 & 𝑔 = 0.75
∴ 𝑄1 = (1 - 0.75) ∗ 112 + 0.75 ∗ 122 = 119.5
𝑄2 = 50%, P = 0.5
∵ (𝑛 - 1) ∗ 𝑝 = 𝑖 + 𝑔
∴ (12 - 1) ∗ 0.5 = 5.5 = 𝑖 + 𝑔
∴ 𝑖 = 5 & 𝑔 = 0.5
∴ 𝑄2 = (1 - 0.5) ∗ 140 + 0.5 ∗ 150 = 145

𝑄3 = 75%, p = 0.75
∵ (𝑛 - 1) ∗ 𝑝 = 𝑖 + 𝑔
∴ (12 - 1) ∗ 0.75 = 8.25 = 𝑖 + 𝑔
∴ 𝑖 = 8 & 𝑔 = 0.25
∴ 𝑄3 = (1 - 0.25) ∗ 165 + 0.25 ∗ 171 = 166.5
