Natural Environment
Natural Environment
The natural environment is all of the things that exist in nature, such as
animals, plants, water, air, and sunlight. It also includes features like
mountains, forests, and rivers. The natural environment is important
because it provides us with the resources that we need to live. It also
helps to regulate the climate and keep our planet healthy. A natural
environment refers to an environment in which human contact or
influence has been extremely limited. It contains only naturally occurring
things and not artificial things. It comprises the interactions of different
climates, all living species, weather, and natural resources that affect the
survival of human and economic activity.
Importance of natural environment
The natural environment gives us a wealth of services that are difficult to measure in
dollars. Natural areas help clean our air, purify our water, produce food and medicines,
reduce chemical and noise pollution, slow floodwaters, and cool our streets. We call this
work ‘ecosystem services’. Nature thrives in healthy ecosystems, and so do we. For
example, plants stimulate the imagination and help us concentrate, reduce stress and
fight disease. You can help keep our ecosystems healthy by encouraging and improving
the natural environment around your home and neighbourhood.
For example:
1) Make sure the drain is just for rain and keep our waterways healthy
2)Volunteer to help your local council restore bushland areas plant a tree
3)Join a global movement that inspires a love of nature.
Human impact on natural environment
Human activity has had a negative impact on the natural environment. This is
most apparent in the way that humans have changed the landscape through
activities such as farming, forestry, and mining. These activities have led to soil
erosion, deforestation, and habitat loss. In addition to this, humans have also
polluted the air, water, and soil with harmful chemicals and waste products.
This pollution has caused problems such as acid rain, global warming, and the
depletion of the ozone layer. As a result of these problems, many species of
animals and plants are now extinct or endangered. Habitat loss and pollution
are also having a negative impact on human health, with an increasing number
of people suffering from respiratory diseases, cancers, and other health
conditions.
Depletion of Natural Resources
Natural factors such as climate, soil, forests, minerals, rivers and ocean have
tremendous influence on the functioning and growth of commerce and industry.
Natural and physical environment provides the raw materials required for the
functioning of industries. For example, iron and steel industry cannot function
without ore and other necessary minerals. Demand pattern depends upon
topographical and weather conditions. For example, jeeps may be in greater
demand than cars in hilly areas with a difficult terrain. Similarly, woolens are in
demand in cool areas while coolers and air conditioners are more in demand in high
temperature regions. Natural environment may also call for modifications in
product mix, packaging and storage systems.Nature is also the source of almost all
the energy used in production and distribution. Nature has is a symbiotic link
between man and nature.
