Sanket: Thank you, Abhishek, for joining us. Can you explain the goal-setting process in Pidilite’s
PMS?

Abhishek Ahirao: Sure, Sanket. At Pidilite, the goal-setting process is divided into four stages:

1. Individual Target Agreement:

o Monthly targets are aligned with the broader business objectives.

o For instance, we aim to cover 260 retail stores monthly, ensuring at least 150+ stores
are actively engaged.

2. Mid-Term Review:

o Performance for the first half of the month is evaluated.

o Adjustments are made based on sales progress and identified challenges.

3. Behavioral and Sales Evaluation:

o Sales targets are categorized into Product Categories A, B, and C.

o Weightage is split evenly:

 50% for behavioral initiatives, like punctuality and effective communication.

 50% for sales performance (quantitative targets).

4. Final Evaluation and Feedback:

o Senior leaders like the Brand Head and State Head consolidate reviews.

o Feedback includes recognizing high performers and creating action plans for
underperformers.

Sanket: That’s a well-structured process. How does Pidilite manage performance reviews and
recognition?

Abhishek Ahirao: The framework includes:

 Self-assessments by employees.

 Managerial feedback discussions.

 Regular monthly reviews by senior leadership.

We track KPIs for both quantitative and qualitative goals, and rewards include “Employee of the
Month” recognition and promotions for consistent top performers.

Sanket: How do you support underperformers?

Abhishek Ahirao: Underperformers undergo quarterly reviews and receive personalized action plans
to help them improve. They are also placed on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) if needed.

Sanket: What challenges do you face in the PMS process?

Abhishek Ahirao: Challenges include ensuring fairness, balancing behavioral and quantitative
evaluations, and maintaining consistent feedback. However, we’re addressing these through robust
KPI integration, transparent review systems, and regular feedback loops.

Sanket: Thank you for your insights, Abhishek. This was incredibly helpful!

Abhishek Ahirao: You’re welcome, Sanket! Glad to share our approach.
