MACRAMÉ
BAG
MACRAMÉ BAG

Materials
• 2 rolls of Natural Cotton Macrame yarn –
Color: 20 (Natural);
• 1 pair of handles with a 23cm (9in) of base;
• glue.

Knots
Square knot; double hitch knot.

Bag Size: 34cm (width) X 27cm (height) -

(approx 13in X 10in)

Execution
Cut 56 strands of 2 m (79in) each and 4
strands of 7 m (275in) each.
Start by covering the handles: join 2 larger
strands, leave 1 m / 39in (it will be used in the
making of the bag) and make just 1 overhand
knot in one of the corners of the handle.
Separate the two larger ends and work square
knots only on the curved part – use the handle
as if they were the central threads and each
end as a side for the square knots – at the end
there should be approximately 1 m (39in) at
each end.
Repeat on the other handle.
Fold each 2 m (79in) strand in half and hang
28 strands as fringes on the straight side of
each handle. Work 5 rows of square knots in
each handle separately. In the 6th row of the
same knots, join the two parts and, from there,
work the circular piece until the end, following
the graph.

Bottom finishes: turn the bag inside out,

join 1 front knot and your back pair and work
1 square knot, wrapping all strands. Tie 1
overhand knot on both sides. Do this until the
closing is complete. Cut the remaining threads
and apply glue to the closure knots.
