Chp 10. A Caring Husband (new)
Chp 10. A Caring Husband (new)
Who in Empire City has the audacity and power to demand such a
thing?" Lloyd Sinclair questioned, his voice filled with disbelief and frustration.
"It's just business Mister Sinclair. Unfortunately for you, someone more important has made a request I
can't refuse." Rodriguez explained with a calm smile knowing the chaos he was unleashing as he went
back inside.
As everyone outside vented their anger at Rodriguez and the so-called "guest" for ruining the wedding,
Logan found himself escorted to a room on the hotel's fourth floor.
It was an exquisite four-bedroom suite adorned with luxurious furnishings. Rodriguez, upon discovering
that the woman Logan had housed in the hotel was his wife, promptly arranged a safe and comfortable
room to win favor in Logan's eyes.
Entering the room, Logan was met with the sight of his wife, Amara, crying on the spotless bedsheets
with her head bowed.
His heart ached; she must have been waiting for him all this time. Logan cherished the unwavering
support Amara had always provided him in times of need.
Now, aware of his true identity, power, and wealth, Logan wanted to reciprocate the favor.
"Amara! I'm here. Please don't cry anymore," Logan reassured her as he rushed to her side, squatting
down.
Amara looked up, her tear - streaked face lighting up at the sight of Logan. She hugged him tightly, her
silence speaking volumes.
Amidst the chaos, Amara's family had planned to marry her off to the Sinclair family for their own gain.
In the ruthless city of Empire, one's worth was often measured by their bank account.
"Where have you been? You left me alone, and look at what they almost did," Amara cried on his
shoulders, and he gently patted her back.
Many had questioned why the most beautiful lady in the Adams family stuck with someone like Logan,
provoking further anger from Lloyd Sinclair.
"I'm so sorry. Lady Adams sent me on an errand far away. I had no idea she would force you to marry
Lloyd Sinclair while I was gone," Logan explained cautiously, not wanting to tarnish Lady Adams' image
in Amara's eyes.
"I was so scared! Please don't do that ever again!" Amara pleaded.
"I won't! I'm here now. You're not getting married to anyone else but me, okay?" Logan reassured her,
wiping away the tears after they released the hug.
"Gosh, your makeup is all ruined," he chuckled between sentences, and Amara blushed.
Still in her white wedding gown purchased by Lloyd Sinclair, Amara couldn't help but smile when Logan
jokingly remarked, "You know, if not for our marriage, I would say this wedding gown looks perfect on
you."
"Stop it," she punched him in the arm. "Don't make such jokes, please. I'm not getting married to
anyone if it's not you," she pouted, and Logan smiled.
"Alright, get up. Your makeup is ruined from crying a lot, and you look like a mess. Go have a shower."
Amidst the recent chaos, Amara had forgotten why she was in the hotel room. Observing its luxurious
designs, she wondered if they could afford it.
"What? In this room? Can we afford it, Logan? What am I even doing here?" she questioned, and Logan
smiled. He knew Amara would be surprised to learn he owned this hotel, a minor asset for the Smith
family.
"Don't worry, trust me. Go have a bath; I'll be waiting for you here," he reassured her.
Despite her initial objections, Logan insisted, and Amara agreed, heading into the shower. Once she was
in, Logan pulled out his phone and dialed Ray's number.
"Ray, please text me Rodriguez's number immediately. I forgot to take it off him when we met."
"Yes."
Shortly after ending the call, Logan received a text from Ray with Rodriguez's number. Swiftly storing it,
he dialed, and it rang once before Rodriguez picked up.
"Diamond Glass Hotel at your service, I am Kenneth Rodriguez," he introduced himself in the usual office
manner.
"Young master, forgive my casual speaking. Please tell me what I can do for you."
"Get my wife new clothes immediately. Her size is eight. I need it here before five minutes run out, do
you understand me?" Logan inquired with a stern voice, and Rodriguez quickly confirmed his request.
"And one more thing, listen carefully to what I'm going to tell you. When you arrive with the clothes, I
want you to do something."
With that, Logan provided him with some crucial information and ended the call.
Rodriguez secured the clothes before the five minutes were up and promptly sent someone to deliver
them to the room where Logan and Amara were.
Logan took the clothes and told his wife to change into them. Amara was pleasantly surprised at how
quickly Logan had seemingly run home to get clothes for her when, in fact, he had ordered them
through the man in charge of the prestigious Diamond Glass Hotel.
"Amara Adams Smith, I'm sorry, but I need to speak to you quickly."
Rodriguez acknowledged Amara, completely ignoring Logan as if he never existed in the room to begin
with.
Within thirty seconds of ending the call, Logan received a text message from Ray with Rodriguez's
number attached.
When Rodriguez came into the room, Amara saw him and remembered they worked on decorating
homes together a long time ago.
"It's my pleasure. Please sit; I have something important to discuss with you."
Seated on the bed, Amara listened attentively as Rodriguez began talking carefully while Logan observed
from a corner.
"I don't understand sir. What makes me lucky when I'm getting forcefully married to someone I do not
love today?"
"No, not that dear. I have come here with a partnership deal from the famous Grandeur Corporation for
the Adams family, which they want you to handle."
Amara's eyes almost popped out. Could she have just heard correctly? Is Grandeur Corporation offering
a partnership deal to the Adams family? The same company that had rejected them for years due to
their low class and status compared to other prominent families in Empire City? Confused, Amara
inquired further.
"Grandeur Corporation wants a partnership with the Adams family? But how is that possible?"
Her facial expression reflected the shock, while Rodriguez smiled gently at her reaction before Amara
continued talking.
"My family has always been ignored yearly for a partnership deal with Grandeur Corporation. Why are
they suddenly coming to us despite other prominent families in the city?"
Rodriguez inhaled deeply before responding. He understood her shock; Grandeur Corporation was a
prestigious and luxurious company in Empire City.
Many investors would give anything to own even five percent of shares, boosting their net worth and
social influence. Grandeur Corporation annually strikes partnership deals worth millions of dollars with
prominent families in the city.
"That's why I say you, Amara Adams Smith are the chosen one." Rodriguez responded with a smile.
