CASE STUDY FORMAT

Leadership and Decision Making MGT1101

A. Background
• MGT1101 requires a written examination for Midterm Assessment while the final
requirement for said course will be a Case Analysis to be presented by groups.
• For ease of use, every part of the format includes descriptions.
• The case analysis must be original ideas of the students. Plagiarism would merit a
grade of zero.

B. Group Composition o Students can work in groups with a maximum of


seven (7) members.

C. Case Assignment
• The professor will assign the same case to all groups.

D. Formatting Guidelines
• Word/PDF Submission o Arial Typeface,
12pt, Regular o Section headings should be
in Bold
o 1.5 spacing throughout including caption and references o
Paragraph indentation is ½ inches or 5 spaces o Insert page numbers
at the bottom right o One (1) inch on margin all sides
• PowerPoint Presentation o Texts each slide
should not be more than 7 lines with 7
words each line o Any slide design is
allowed
o Ensure clarity, readability, and comprehensibility of each
presentation

E. Submission and Presentation/Defense


• All groups shall submit the case on December 6, 2024
• No submission, no presentation
• The groups will be scheduled for a presentation on either December 7 or 11, 2024

LEADERSHIP and DECISION MAKING (MGT1101)

I. Facilitator Information

II. General Information:

All groups will be working on the same case assigned by the professor. Each group will present
the final requirement of the semester. Group members will each present an assigned discussion
of their analysis to be critiqued by an invited panelist. The group’s entire analysis is expected to
be defended after each question has been raised by the panelists.

Use of PowerPoint presentation is preferred but any other platform can be used for presentation
purposes.
A separate word or pdf file is to be submitted on the date specified above. No submission, no
presentation.

Following is the format for the case analysis:

I. TITLE PAGE (Include the Logo of the Company in Case)


TABLE OF CONTENTS

II. BACKGROUND OF THE CASE- ,)


Summary of key points from the case study and what it wishes to accomplish. It’s an
at-a-glance overview of every major part of the case.

III. VIEWPOINT AND TIME CONTEXT-,)


This identifies the person whose authority and expertise will recommend or decide on the
solution to the problem.

The case will be viewed based on the perspective of this person at the time the problem
was observed and expected to be addressed and resolved.

IV. PROBLEM STATEMENT -


This defines the perceived problem presented in the case and which is the subject of
the analysis. This may be presented in a declarative or interrogative form and should
never be answered by a yes or no.

V. STATEMENT OF THE OBJECTIVES -


These are the goals which the case analysis hopes to achieve. Should be SMART. At
least 3 objectives.

VI. AREAS OF CONSIDERATION-

a. SWOT MATRIX & TOWS ANALYSIS


SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis is a
framework used to
evaluate a brand’s competitive position and to develop strategic planning.

SWOT analysis assesses internal and external factors, as well as current and
future potential. Present at least 3 per factor.

VII. ALTERNATIVE COURSES OF ACTIONS -


These are the possible answer to the problem. Each must be able to achieve the objectives.
Present at least 3 ACAs.

Description and analysis of each ACA should be presented. Advantages and


disadvantages of each strategy should be identified and discussed.

VIII. CONCLUSION- )
Comparative analysis of each ACA should be way of identifying the variables and how
each variable is related for each ACA.

Comparison is summarized by a decision matrix which now show which ACA to be


adopted.

IX. IMPLEMENTATION OF PLAN- 1 PERSON


This plan delineates the series of actions to be undertaken to operationalize the adopted
ACA. This should include point person to execute the plan of action, time frame and
budget.
