PART 2: SOLUTION DISCUSSION
In this part of the speaking test, you will be given a situation with THREE options.
You have to choose ONE to argue on. You will have to say which option you will
follow and explain why. You will also have to say why you haven't chosen the
other two options. You have ONE minute to prepare and TWO minutes to talk.
Here is the situation.
Situation
You are going to take part in IELTS exam next month. How do you prepare
for that important test. There are three options:
- Self-study through the Internet
- Finding a private tutor
- Taking a course in an IELTS centre
Which option do you think is the best? Explain the option you have chosen.

Mở: Among the three options self-study through the Internet, finding a private tutor,
taking acourse in an IELTS centre. I think self-study through the Internet is the best
choice because of the following reasons.
Thân: First, it allows me to study at my own pace and access a wide range of online
resources such as practice tests, sample essays, listening exercises, and grammar
tutorials. Second, selfstudying can be cost-effective, flexible, and convenient, allowing me
to focus on specific areas you need to improve.I wouldn’t choose finding a private tutor
or taking a course in an IELTS centre because it isexpensive and wastes me too much time
to travel.
Kết: In short, self-study through the Internet is the best choice.

Situation
Your school wants to build a new zone to serve students. There are three
options:
- A canteen
- A modern library
- A dormitory
Which option do you think is the best? Explain the option you have chosen.

Mở: Among the three options a canteen, a modern library, a dormitory. I think building
a canteenis the best choice because of the following reasons.
Thân: First, building a canteen can provide students space to have meals, socialize, and
relax during their break times. Second, it promotes a sense of community and offers
convenience, especially for students who bring packed lunches or prefer to eat on-site.I
wouldn’t choose a modern library, a dormitory because of its high initial cost and
maintenanceexpenses
Kết: In short, building a canteen is the best choice.

Situation
Your friend who is a teacher complains that many of her students do not do
homework. She is considering an appropriate way of punishment. There are
three options:
- Ask the students to rewrite the task 10 times
- Require them to stand at the classroom corner for one hour
- Ask the students to pay a fine
Which option do you think is the best? Explain the option you have chosen.

Mở: Among the three options ask the students to rewrite the task 10 times, require
them tostand at the classroom corner for one hour, ask the students to pay a fine. I think
ask the students to rewrite the task 10 times is the best choice because of the following
reasons.
Thân: First, it can help reinforce the lesson or concept they missed by not completing the
homework. Second, provides an opportunity for students to reflect on their mistake and
understand the importance of completing assignments on time.I wouldn’t choose to
require them to stand at the classroom corner for one hour, ask thestudents to pay a fine
because it is not suitable and very strict to students.
Kết: In short, ask the students to rewrite the task 10 times is the best choice.
