UNIT 6: HOME & LIFESTYLE

1.Ideal home/ The place you would like to live √
It’s safe to say that I have given my dream house a considerable amount of
thought. My future house will be a villa. It will be near the beach. My villa will
have 2 floors with 6 modern rooms. There will be a large flower garden in front
and a swimming pool behind the house. There will be a smart robot because they
will help me do a lot of housework such as: cleaning the floors, cooking meals and
even feed the pets. The house will used solar energy to protect the environment.
Last but not least, it would be wonderful if my house had a spacious living room
with a fireplace as well as an open-plan modern kitchen and a cozy dining room
where I can invite all my friends over for dinner sometimes. Because I would love
nothing more than to be at one with nature so I think that house would really allow
me to do that in a safe and comfortable environment.

UNIT 7: ENTERTAINMENT
1. The popular ways people in your country do for entertainment √

There are many ways that people do for entertainment in my country. All different
kinds such as: TV, music, live events, computer games,.. It probably depends on
where u live, how old you are and what things you like to do in your freetime.
Personally, I guess the most popular for the majority of people would be TV.
People love to get updates and most of the TV channels have some sort of news
programmes. This is why people want to watch the news daily. Talks shows give
an insight into a pressing issue and bring many popular personalities to the
programme and people prefer to watch what they have got to say on an issue. TV
series is highly entertaining and have many genres so viewers can always pick their
fav series based on their preferences./e/

UNIT 8. SAFETY
1.A difficult situation do you have in your life

When I was 5 years old I had a difficult situation. That was when my grandparents
went home to play, so careless I got lost. At first I didn’t even know I was lost. I
kept going straight until I got tired of my legs and couldn’t walk anymore. At that
time I knew I was lost. At first I was so scared, I cried loudly and called my
parents. Everyone passing by looked at me. But I’m thinking of kidnappers. Due to
fear of being found lost, I immediately stopped crying. I go against the original
direction. I stood at a convenience store and waited for my parents to come find
me. The owner of the convenience store saw me standing there for a long time
afraid I was hungry, so gave me a cake. By the evening my parents found me.
Getting lost is scary but I find that after that time I have grown a lot. I also
confidently handle unexpected situations better.

UNIT 9: SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY

1.Pros and Cons of the Internet: √
*Pros:
- It’s a source of free information
- It’s extremely convenient
- You can access a wide range of social cirlces
*Cons:
- Your privacy’s compromised (bị xâm phạm) online
- Some people can get addicted
- It enables the spread of fake news.

As you know the Internet is accessible to every information we want without a

fraction of second. It’s a technological innovation that brings a lof of advantages
and disadvantages.
About the advantages,
first of all, the Internet is a source of free information. From the blog post you
are currently reading to Wikipedia and Youtube, it’s full of free information. This
has made it possible to learn skills that help people get jobs, make money, learn a
language or do anything else of interest without having to pay an expensive course.
Secondly, The Internet’s extremely convenient. A lot of the daily chores are
made so much more convenience through the use of the Inter. Paying bills by going
to the provider’s website and clicking a few buttons is much easier than going to
the bank every month. The same can be said for doing your shopping online and
getting it delivered instead of traveling from store to store.
Last but not least of pros, you can access a wide range social circles. One of the
pros of the Internet is that people are now able to connect with others who share
the same interests, hobbies, passions wherever they’re in the world.
About the disadvantages,
your privacy’s compromised online.Although governments have started making
laws to regulate this, internet- based companies still infamous for taking user
information and giving it to marketers. So people can take your identity online and
use it in harmful our unauthorized ways.
Besides that, some people can get addicted. Overdependence on the internet can
even progress into full-blown addiction. People’ll spend time on the Internet
without doing anything productive and without even enjoying it.
And the last, it enables the spread of fake news. This means that with anyone
able to say anything, information that’s untrue, incomplete or misrepresented can
spread very quickly and very widely.

2. A new piece of technology that u would like to buy/ form of tech that has
change morden life the most. √

In the future, I believe that technology will develop rapidly, so technology items
will also spring up like mushrooms. A new piece of technology that I would like
to buy is a versatile robot. It can help me with housework, homework or other
things such as: feed the pets, clean my house,…I think it will help me reduce the
amount of work that I have to do. Because my work is very busy, I don't even
have time to clean the house and take care of plants and animals, so a robot
Versatile is a best choice for busy people like me.

3. A technology device that you can not live without

It is clear that technologies are already seamlessly integrated into most people’s
everyday life. And a technology device that I can't live without is my iPhone. It's
easy to see why.
Iphone or cell phones are incredibly versatile devices, allowing us to do everything
from talking to friends and family to checking emails, buying plane tickets, and
even playing games. Iphone have become so popular that it is now difficult to
imagine life without them.
Cell phones have also had a huge impact on the way we communicate. Texting and
instant messaging have made it easier than ever to stay in touch with people, no
matter where they are. Social media apps such as Facebook and Instagram have
also made it easier to share our lives with friend and family.
Cell phones have also made it easier for us to stay connected while on the go. With
the help of GPS and mapping apps, we can easily find our way around unfamiliar
places. In short, Iphone or cell phones is very important in our life.
UNIT 10: RELATIONSHIP
1. Pros & Cons of living in the big family
It’s no surprise that big families come with their own set of unique joys and
challenges.
 Here are some advantages of big families:
Firstly, There Is Always Someone To Spend Time With
Cozy family gatherings around the dinner table, late-night talks with your siblings
while sharing a bed on road trips – are just some of the priceless moments that can
only be experienced when living in a big happy family.
Unlike living alone, you always have someone to spend time with and talk to
when living in a big happy family.
Secondly, There is Built-In Support and Assistance
One of the biggest plus points of big families is the sense of support that comes
from being surrounded by loved ones. Members of a large family are also quick to
offer emotional support during tough times.
Knowing that you have such a strong network of people to rely on can be a
great source of comfort and strength.
Last but not least, Children in Big Families Learn to Share
Children who grow up in larger families often have different experiences.
From an early age, they learn to share everything from toys to parents’ attention.
As they grow older, they continue to share their space and resources. This can
result in some challenges, but it also teaches them important skills like
cooperation.
 Besides, there're some disadvantages.
Firstly, Less One-On-One Time For Each Child With Parents
In families with several children, it’s not uncommon for each parent to feel
stretched thin. As a result, each child may have less one-on-one time with their
mom or dad and this can be tough on kids,
Secondly, It’s More Expensive To Support A Large Family
For parents, raising a large family can be both expensive and exhausting. With
more children comes more expenses, from food and clothing to education and child
care.
The last, Big Families Are More Likely To Have Arguments And Disagreements
Any family is likely to experience the occasional argument or disagreement.
Families with more members may be more prone to conflict due to the greater
number of personalities and opinions involved. In a large family, there are
differences of opinion on everything from what to eat for dinner to how to spend a
weekend.
However, people who enjoy being surrounded by loved ones, a big family can be
the perfect place to call home.
2. Describe family member that u admire √

I believe that a family makes our life meaningful. I love every members of my fam.
But if I have to choose someone whom I admire the most, it would be my father.
My father is truly an admirable person for his outstanding qualities and
personality, and he is my hero in my life. He has guided me to the right path so that
I could shine in my personal life. When I was a child, he helped me in all possible
ways, and when I turned a teenager he showed me right from wrong. Most
importantly, unlike the fathers of a few friends of mine, my father has never forced
me into doing anything that I didn't like. Rather, he explained to me what should be
done and what should not be done. In this regard, he is a great mentor in my life.
Above all ,I admire my father the most and will continue doing so for his sense of
responsibility and also his sympathy for others.

UNIT 11:
1. Describe some way to protect the environment. √
- Save electricity & Use Energy- efficient lightings
- Use public transport & walk/bike wherever
- Raise people’s awareness

Protecting the environment is not just a responsibility, it’s a duty that we owe to
our planet, to ourselves and to future generations. There’re many ways to protect
the environment.
Firstly, people should save electricity and use energy-efficient lightings.
Reducing your electricity usage is an easy way to protect our environment. You
should turn off lights and unplug electronics when they’re not in use. And use
energy- efficient bulbs because it use less energy and last longer than traditional
incandescent bulbs.
Secondly, people should use public transport. One way that you can help to
protect the environment is by using public transport and walking/ biking instead of
driving your car. Not only will this help to reduce your carbon footprint, but it’ll
also help get you some exercise that improve your health.
Last but not least, there’s a must to raise people’s awareness. People should be
encouraged strongly to do good things like: no throwing trash everywhere, use less
plastic things,… So I hope that in the future, the earth’ll be cleaner.

2. Describe some environmental problem we are facing now

There are several major global environmental problems which we are facing now
Firstly,It’s Air Pollution
One of the biggest environmental problems today is air pollution. Data from the
World Health Organization shows that an estimated 4.2 to 7 million people die
from air pollution worldwide every year. Causes of air pollution mostly comes
from industrial sources and motor vehicles, as well as emissions from burning
biomass and poor air quality due to dust storms.
Secondly, Environmental problem we are facing now is Deforestation
Every hour, forests the size of 300 football fields are cut down. If deforestation
isn’t stopped, they could all be gone in less than 100 years. Despite efforts to
protect forest land, legal deforestation is still rampant.
Last but not least, It’s Plastic Pollution
A report by science journal, Nature, determined that currently, roughly 14 million
tons of plastic make their way into the oceans every year, harming wildlife habitats
and the animals that live in them. Considering that plastic takes 400 years to
decompose, it will be many generations until it ceases to exist. There’s no telling
what the irreversible effects of plastic pollution will have on the environment in the
long run.
So, This requires us to have specific solutions to prevent environmental problems
we are facing now.

UNIT 12: FOOD & CELEBRATION

1. Describe traditional festival ( Celebration in your country) √
Tet is the most significant event in VN. This annual celebration , which usually
occurs at the end of January or the beginning of February, marks the start of New
Year in the Lunar calendar.
It’s time for family reunions and for people to relax after a long year of hard work,
so of course, it always brings an abundance of celebratory activities.
We will all clean our houses and decorate it with traditional flowers. At the time of
transition between the old and the new year, we often go out on the streets, look
forward to the brilliant fireworks displays and say “Happy New Year” to each
other.
Another traditional ritual in Tet that I truly enjoyed as a child, is to give a receive
Lucky money. Adults ‘ll give children or elder people money in red envelopes/i/ as
a way of wishing them a healthy and prosperous/o/ new year.
We also spend this time to make and feast on traditional foods such as Chung cake
and sticky rice cake to paying homage to our ancestors.
I think the reason why Tet is so important in VN is because it holds the meaning of
a fresh start for everyone and gives us the opportunity to strengthen our bond with
family and friends.
2. Describe traditional dish
Vietnam has a very rich cultural diversity, which means that there are various types
of traditional food. Vietnamese Noodle Soup ( Phở ) is one of the traditional dish
of Vietnam. The most famous is the North Pho. Hanoi is the birthplace of Pho
North. Pho seems to be one of the typical features of Thang Long - Hanoi culinary
culture. Phở consists of rice noodles, sliced beef, broth made from beef bones, and
onions. Beef is always carefully selected and the spices are also carefully seasoned
to suit the most discerning diners. Also accompanied by spices such as soy sauce,
pepper, lemon, fish sauce, and chili. All the ingredients are put in a bowl with
onions on top of the beef. The tastes of all ingredients are in perfect harmony. It
has a delicate taste and smells so good that can’t resist it whenever go past.Phở is
also nutritious enough to be a typical breakfast in Vietnam. You know, Pho is a dish
requiring elaborate processing, many stages, time-consuming.The chef not only
needs to master each phase of making Pho but also has to add a little bit of passion
and national pride to make the dish with Vietnamese soul and personality.

UNIT 13
1. Describe a TV program
I’m going to talk about “Who wants to be a millionaire”, one of my fav TV shows.
As far as I can remember, its first debut in VN around 20 years ago. This was kind
of a quiz show that contestants have to go through a set of 15 questions with
increasing difficulty. The first 5 questions are pretty silly really, and they always
give me and my family a good laugh. Contestants are given 4 lifelines to aid them
with difficult questions, and most of them are usually used up when the contestant
reaches around question 7 or 8. The entire show is a sea of knowledge. Many
questions from different fields are asked. I’m quite a curious people, so I hardly
missed an episode. Knowledge acquired from those shows were really helpful to
me in many of my highschool knowledge quizzes.
