Going to

Mars
Rebekah Lewis
What you need to survive
Surviving on Mars would be quite the challenge for a number of reasons. First,
you would need special technology to produce breathable oxygen for yourself.
Next, and just as important, you would need food and water to survive. NASA is
attempting to develop a system to is capable of recycling things such as food,
water, and air to aid these issues.

It is also important to have a sort of lightweight power system to run any tech
you might have. Along with this you would need a way to communicate with
Earth and the ISS.

Living on Mars would also require a special protective spacesuit due to the
oxygen and environment of Mars. You would also need a shelter. These two
things are important to protect you from the harsh weather and elements.
How long will it take
After taking a fast paced and heavy rocket that was launched at just the right
time, it would take roughly eight months to get to Mars. In total it is a 300 million
mile trip!

You won’t be able to target Mars when you launch so you’ll have to aim for where
it will be located when you’re planned to land.
What would life be like
As previously mentioned Mars has a very different environment from Earth that
would dramatically change your life. The surface on Mars is incredibly cold, there
are also high winds and dramatic storms on the planet.

Mars also has a very thin atmosphere that would cause sickness due to the
intense cosmic radiation that would occur. Mars also has a very weak
gravitational pull in comparison to earth and over time that would affect your
muscles, and bones causing lots of damage.

All of these factors in one way or another are detrimental to your health and
would majorly affect your life and you would have to take a wide number of
precautions!
