LESSON PLAN IN MATH 6

School: Indahag Elementary School Grade Level: Grade 6 Date: August 19, 2024

Teacher Mary Flor M. Sabote Learning Area Mathematics

1. OBJECTIVES
A. Demonstrates understanding of the four
Content Standards fundamental operations Involving fractions and
decimals.

B. Able to apply the four fundamental operations involving

Performance fractions and decimals in mathematical problems and real-
Standards life situations.

C. Divides simple fractions and mixed fractions. (M6NS-Ic-

Learning 96.2)
Competencies/
Objectives.
At the end of 45 minutes, the learners are expected to:
1. Divide mixed fractions by another form of
fractions
2. Perform the activity that involves mixed
fractions

2.CONTENT Subject Matter: Dividing mixed fractions by another form

of fractions
Learning within and across curriculum:
Science – understanding the concept of fraction is crucial in
measuring and solving problems in science experiments.
TLE – Fractions are commonly used in cooking and baking
recipes, where understanding how to divide fractions is
essential.
Art – Fractions are used in art to determine proportions and
measurements in creating artworks.
Strategies: Discovery Method, brain storming, games and
gamification, cooperation
Materials: TV, laptop, instructional materials, manila paper

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

A.Elicit - Prayer

- Greetings

- Checking of Attendance

- Review of the lesson

Student’s will answer the
(Paper Ball Game) student who last touches the paper question.
ball will answer the question.

- Presenting the objectives of today’s lesson

B.Engage Students will be playing the NINJA GAME.

The learner who got the ninja will start counting 'one' and
give the ninja to the person on his right.
The second learner will say 'two' and give the ninja to the
person to his right. Since the given numbers are 365, the
third person will not say '3' but stand up and shout NINJA
and then gives the ninja to the person on his right.
The 4th is expected to say 'four' and give the ninja to the
person on his right. The fifth person will stand up, say shout
ninja and give the ninja to the next person.
The person who fails to follow the instruction will get to
answer the question prepared by the teacher. If he fails to
answer correctly, the question will be ask to the person on
his right until the 3rd person. The learner who answers the
question correctly will get the points.

Questions:
1. It is one of the arithmetic symbol? Division symbol
2. ¼ is an example of? Fraction
3. What happened to the picture? Equally divided

C.Explore What do you think our topic this morning? Our topic this morning is
all about division of
fraction.
Why do you think we need to study division of fraction in
terms of science, TLE and arts? In science we can learn on
how to divide our mixtures
especially during
experiments.

In TLE we use division of

fraction when we are
cooking following the
recipe.

In Arts we know the

proportion of the color, the
emotions in doing
masterpiece.
Dividing fractions
D.Explain
To divide Fractions you must use KFC;
Students listen
K – keep the first fraction the same
F- flip the second fraction
C – change the sign from ÷ to x.

Example:
1. 2/3 ÷ 4/5 = 2/3 x 5/4 = 10/12 ÷ 2 = 5/6
2. 2/3 ÷ 3 = 2/3 ÷ 3/1 = 2/3 x 1/3 = 2/9
3. 5 ÷ 2/5 = 5/1 ÷ 2/5 = 5/1 x 5/2 = 25/2 = 12 ½
4. 5 ½ ÷ 2/5 = 11/2 ÷ 2/5 = 11/2 x 5/2 = 55/4 = 13 ¾
5. 2 1/3 ÷ 1 3/5 = 7/3 ÷ 8/5 = 7/3 x 5/8 = 35/24 = 1 11/24

Activity: Group work

E. Elaborate The class will be divided into 4 groups each group will solve Learners will solve the given
the given question and explain how they get the answer. question and present it.
They will choose representative to explain their output.

Group 1:
What is the result in dividing 4 1/3 by 2/5? 13/3 ÷ 2/5 = 13/3 x 5/2 = 65/6
Or 1 5/6
Group 2:
What is the result in dividing 1/3 by 2? 1/3 ÷ 2/1 = 1/3 x ½ = 1/6

Group 3:
What is the result in dividing 2 1/4 by 1 1/4? 9/4 ÷ 5/4 = 9/4 x 4/5 = 36/20
÷4 = 9/5 or 1 4/5
Group 4: 6/10 x 5/2 = 30/20 ÷ 10 = 3/2 or
What is the result in dividing 6/10 by 2/5? 1½

F.Evaluate Find the quotient and simplify your answer if possible.

1 2 27/8 or 3 3/8
1. 2 divided by =N
4 3
5/36
1
2. How man y 1 are there in 9?
