II. REPORT
1. Determine the discharge coefficients, the volumetric flow rate in 4 experiments by using
venturi nozzle and venturi nozzle (table 1, 2)
2. Explain the difference from the results of U tubes and pressure gauge?
There is a difference in the results of measuring pressure with a pressure measuring tube and a
manometer because:
- Pressure measuring tube: Read with the naked eye, so it is easy to have random errors,
depending on the height difference between the two water columns, to determine the pressure
need to use formula to calculate.
- Pressure gauge: The reading results displayed on the pressure gauge should limit errors due to
visual perception and only have systematic errors. We can know the value directly, without using
a formula, but we have a more accurate value and this accuracy is due to the way the equipment
is installed and the exact height of the pressure gauge.
3. Compare the computed results between the using of orifice plat and venturi nozzle, give
the discussions?
According to the 90 degree angle’s design of the orifice plat, when there are fluid passing
through it, many opposite direction of fluid will be create. On the other hand, the venturi nozzle
has a slope, so the fluid can flow more ideally.
To sum up, the venturi nozzle performs more accurate than the orifice plate because it has lower
air loss, making it a more secure and reliable measurement instrument.
