Reason for studying in UK

1. Academic excellence
Universities in the UK have the best academic standards in the world. Four out of
the top 10 universities in the world are from the UK (QS World Ranking
2023) .When studying in the UK, you will find that practical and utility-based
knowledge is preferred over textbook learning. This will enable you to acquire
critical thinking, analytical skills, and creative ability in your chosen discipline.

2. Quality of education
The Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) is an independent body in the UK that
regularly assesses the education standards of all universities and colleges in the
country. Besides checking their performances through audits and subject reviews,
it helps identify the best education practices and sends feedback for improvisation.
The UK higher education funding bodies also examine these research standards
and publish their findings at regular intervals. This ensures all students have access
to the best quality of learning, research and teaching irrespective of the course they
choose to pursue.
According to the QS University Rankings, 2023. These four out of the top ten
institutions in the world are based in the UK.
QS world university ranking 2023
University of Cambridge- 2
University of Oxford-4
University College London (UCL)- 8
Imperial College London- 6

3. Shorter duration of courses

Courses in the UK education system are shorter and more intensive than in many
other countries, which means you’ll graduate sooner without compromising on
quality. While you can complete an undergraduate program in three years, you’ll
be able to finish a graduate program or post-graduation in the UK in just one year.
This not only saves your time but also a chunk of money spent on tuition fees and
living costs.

4. Cultural diversity
In the UK about 14% of the population is from abroad. International students who
relocate to the UK have the chance to experience other cultures as well. This is one
of the main advantages that leads students to decide to study in the UK.
Getting in touch with people from different cultures and learning about them
fascinates international students. Knowing different cultures does not mean that
you will lose touch with your own. Additionally, you will be able to maintain
strong ties to your own culture by meeting new people and making new friends.
You can go to neighbourhood gatherings and socialise with others from a similar
cultural background as the UK is so kind and hospitable, it's extremely unlike that
you will ever miss home.

5. Professional opportunities
Any course or degree from a university in the UK will give your resume more
value. Universities in the UK use a combination of theoretical and practical
teaching methods. The combination of your education, experience, and exposure to
the business world gives you a competitive edge that demonstrates your ability to
function in any setting anywhere in the globe.
Employers in your native country already know that you have thrived in a vibrant
cultural environment and value hard work if you come home with an international
degree or stay in the UK itself. As a result, you become more appealing and can
bypass the line. If you choose to work somewhere else, your degree already shows
that you have the skills to adapt to a different culture and way of life.
The UK is also favoured because of its superior career prospects, educational
system, and skill set. Therefore, to extend your stay in the UK, students search for
post-study work opportunities.

Not India
1. Why did you decide not to study in your home country?
2. How does the standard of education compare to the UK?
3. How will studying in the UK be different to studying in your own country?
NOTE- Add you personal points as you have completed you previous education
in India only what thing you face or think that will be a barrier for your future
education
➢ Standard of Education
➢ Duration & Cost- Mention the Fees and specify the duration and do not
provide generic statements
What makes it better than similar courses in your home country, or in other
English-speaking countries? Use the names of the other countries and the names
of the respective education institutes while stating the comparison.

Answer:
1. I decided not to study in my home country primarily due to the limitations I
experienced within the education system there. In India, while there are pockets of
excellence, the overall education system has several drawbacks. The backward
education system, reliance on outdated teaching methods, and the prevalent
practice of hiring students directly from schooling into teaching positions
undermine the quality of education. Additionally, factors like the reservation
system and cutoff criteria often overshadow merit, making the educational
landscape less conducive for holistic learning and growth.
2. Comparing the standard of education between the UK and India reveals stark
differences. The UK offers a more progressive and dynamic approach to education,
emphasizing critical thinking, practical application of knowledge, and holistic
development. In contrast, the education system in India often focuses more on rote
learning, exam-centric teaching, and less on practical skills development. The
facilities and resources available for students in the UK are generally superior,
fostering an environment conducive to innovation and intellectual exploration.
3. Studying in the UK will be a transformative experience compared to
studying in my home country. Firstly, the emphasis on practical knowledge and
hands-on learning in the UK will provide me with a more well-rounded education.
Unlike in India, where grades often take precedence over actual understanding,
studying in the UK will encourage me to delve deeper into subjects and foster a
genuine passion for learning. Moreover, the exposure to diverse perspectives and
cultures in the UK will broaden my horizons and help me develop a global outlook,
which is essential in today's interconnected world.

In summary, while the decision not to study in my home country may seem
unconventional to some, it is driven by a desire for a more enriching educational
experience that prioritizes knowledge acquisition, critical thinking, and personal
growth.

---------------------------------------- OR
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Answer:
As someone who has completed their previous education in India, I've encountered
several challenges within the education system that have influenced my decision
not to study in my home country.

One of the primary reasons is the backward education system prevailing in India.
The traditional methods employed often focus more on rote learning rather than
fostering critical thinking and practical skills development. Students are often
encouraged to memorize information rather than truly understanding concepts.

Furthermore, the lack of modern facilities and equipment in many educational

institutions hinders the overall learning experience. Without access to up-to-date
resources, it becomes challenging to stay competitive in today's rapidly evolving
world.

Another issue is the heavy emphasis on grades rather than actual knowledge
acquisition. The education system in India often prioritizes exam scores over
practical skills and real-world application of knowledge. This creates a culture
where students are more focused on achieving high marks rather than truly
understanding and applying what they've learned.

Moreover, factors like the reservation system and cutoff criteria add additional
barriers to accessing quality education. Merit-based selection processes are often
overshadowed by various quotas and reservation policies, making it harder for
deserving candidates to secure admission based on their qualifications alone.

Overall, these challenges within the Indian education system have led me to seek
opportunities abroad where I believe I can receive a more holistic and practical
education that better prepares me for future career challenges.
----------------------------------------OR
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Answer:
Reason for Not Choosing Home Country
India is one of the developing countries, and the education system is very
theoretical. Having reasonable consideration of the chosen course, I need to
recognize the best university and best destination. My priority is my home country.
I researched universities of India that focus on practical teaching-
learning rather than theoretical methodology. Unfortunately, I could not find such
universities in India based on practical learning. These methods are always
dimensional, where the faculty member speaks, and the student can only
hear. There is no adequate interaction between lecturers and students. And the
effectiveness of teaching will not be at its best. I believe students get passive and
become less competitive and will not get a chance to experience the reality of the
community due to the lack of practical learning. Due to limited universities and
a limited number of allocated seats, it is challenging to register for the desired
course. If there were regular presentations, assignments,
and report writing, students needn't have written long theoretical answers for good
marks.
Moreover, Indian degrees are not accredited globally, and the course completion
duration would take a long time in most cases due to instability in coordination
between departments. In UK, my course is for 1 year this will save my time and I
will focus on my career. I further wish to hold an international degree to get
an opportunity to explore my knowledge, skills and experiences. Studying overseas
will also give me a chance to precede my academic career in the culture, customs
and educational system of society that is different from the one I am familiar with.
Indian Education system is one of the very few examples where seats are being
reserved for the underprivileged classes in Schools, Colleges, and Universities.
The system of Education in India expects the student to get counseling from the
parent whereas it’s not the right thing to do because Children and young adults
hesitate to share everything with parents due to the generation gap and fear of
mockery so having a counselor in the school itself is of utmost importance.
There are limited materials and equipment available, which is not sufficient to
meet the needs and requirements of the students. The measures that are vital to be
undertaken to enrich the quality of elementary schools are making provision of
proper teaching-learning methods, effective communication between the teachers
and the students, availability of materials, books, articles, swings, playthings, and
all the other resources which play an important role.
The Gross Enrolment Ratio of India in the higher education sector is only 15%
which is quite low as compared to the other developing countries.
Shortage of Faculty and the inability of the Education system at the state level to
attract and retain well-qualified teachers have been posing challenges to quality
education for many years. Large numbers of NET / Ph.D. candidates remain
unemployed even there are a lot of vacancies in higher education, these deserving
candidates are forced to apply in other departments which is the biggest blow to
the higher education system.
As per the survey done by the NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation
Council) in June 2010, not even 25% of the total higher education institutions in
the country were
accredited. And among those accredited, only a few universities and colleges were
found to be of quality to be ranked at ‘A’ level.
In the education system in India, a student’s intelligence and performance are
thought to be mostly determined by their grades. Additionally, extracurricular
activities are viewed as a detour from academics. This thought stems from the idea
that only professionals like doctors, lawyers, engineers, and chartered accountants
are good and everybody wishes their child to become one of these. To achieve that,
one has to get 99.9% in India. this shouldn’t be the case, students should be
encouraged to follow their hobbies and make a career in the same. Music, art and
to be named a few.
In the Indian education system, rote memorization typically dominates the
curriculum. It is heavily theoretical. It is so prevalent that even to get admission to
a school a child should know the alphabet, numbers, and whatnot. Once children
get in, they are only appreciated for reciting answers word for word.
This suggests that teachers place more emphasis on conceptual understanding and
neglect to incorporate practical learning in schools. Visual materials and practical
applications of solutions are frequently not used. As a result, everyone who passed
school remembers that Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell, but not many
people can do their taxes. Similar issues and challenges in education occur, at the
college level where students get a degree based on a written exam alone, and no
practical knowledge.

Why Not other nation

1. Did you consider studying any other countries?
2. How many countries did you research?
3. Why did you look at these countries and not any others?
NOTE- Compare at least 3 countries and specify the points can answer in across
questioning. Try not to mention the point like this country was expensive. If you
are mentioning then research about the fee of a particular university and living
expenses with all other details of the expenses.

Answer:
In considering my options for studying abroad, I explored several countries,
including the USA, Canada, and Australia. Each country offered unique
opportunities and challenges, leading me to focus my research on these specific
nations.

When evaluating the USA, I found that while it boasts prestigious universities and
diverse academic programs, there are significant visa restrictions that can
complicate the application process and limit opportunities for international
students. Additionally, concerns about the political climate and safety issues were
factors that made me hesitant about pursuing my studies there. Despite the
availability of scholarships, the intense competition and limited opportunities for
financial aid were also considerations. In USA a 5 minute of interview decides a
whole career of a student and which I think is no right. Also, it neglect the other
process the whole efforts the student has done.

Canada emerged as another attractive option due to its reputation for high-quality
education and diverse multicultural environment. It is like mini Punjab and the
population is Indian this is a good thing but the environment is like completely
Indian. I wanted a different experience. However, the prospect of long waiting
periods for healthcare procedures under the universal healthcare system, especially
considering that international students are not eligible for completely free
healthcare, gave me pause. Moreover, the country's colder climate and reported
low graduation rates raised concerns about adapting to the environment and
ensuring academic success.

Australia also presented appealing academic prospects, with its renowned

universities and vibrant cultural scene. However, the challenges associated with
public transportation, including its inadequacy and high cost, were significant
drawbacks for me. Additionally, concerns about internet connectivity and the
weather, particularly the hot, dry summers, made me apprehensive about
committing to studying there. Furthermore, recent concerns about population
growth and its potential impact on crime rates and educational quality added to my
reservations. In the visa process, now a 300 words SOP decides the visa. And It is
not a good thing, how can a person explain the whole intention to study in the
country.

In weighing these factors, I ultimately decided to focus my research on these

countries due to their prominence in higher education and the opportunities they
offer for academic and personal growth. However, after careful consideration, I
determined that none of these countries perfectly aligned with my priorities and
preferences, leading me to explore other options for pursuing my educational
goals.

What financial challenges do you expect to encounter during your studies and
how do you plan to address them?
This answer differs in every case of every other applicant. For a better understanding
of finance refer to the following data.

According to UKVI (UK Visa and Immigration) requirements, the costs that a student
may have while studying in London might vary based on things including the degree of
study, the institution, lifestyle choices, and personal circumstances. To help you
estimate the costs, the UKVI offers some broad recommendations on the financial
criteria for applications for student visas. It's important to verify the most recent
information on the official UK government website as these recommendations are
subject to change.
Here are some key financial requirements for a tier 4 general student visa
application.
 Tuition: You must demonstrate that you have the financial resources necessary to
pay for your course's first year's tuition. The precise sum will vary based on your
course and school.
 Living Costs: You must provide proof that you have enough money to pay for your
living expenses while enrolled in a course in the UK. The required amount varies
according on where you live and how long your course is. The UKVI offers a fixed
sum as a general guideline for living expenses. It is £1,334 per month. €12006 for
9 months.
 Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS): You may need to pay the IHS, which
provides you access to the UK's National Health Service. The cost of the IHS
depends on the duration of your visa and any dependents you may have.
 Dependent Expenses: If you have dependents (spouse, children) accompanying
you, you must demonstrate that you have additional funds to support them.
 Miscellaneous Expenses: You should also have funds available for one-time
expenses, such as visa application fees, travel costs, and initial setup expenses such
as phone bills, ration and required rentals.

How familiar are you with the rules and regulations related to working on a
student visa in the UK?

According to the regulations set by the UK government for students holding a

Tier 4 (General) student visa, international students are allowed to work part-time for
up to 20 hours per week during term time and full- time during holidays or university
vacation periods.
However, there are certain restrictions on the types of employment or activities
they can engage in. These restrictions include not using the work to fund their studies,
not being involved in any business activities or self-employment, and not taking up
roles as professional coaches, sports persons, or entertainers.
It's essential for students to adhere to these guidelines to ensure compliance with
their visa regulations and to avoid any potential legal complications during their
studies in the UK.
