STATEMENT OF EDUCATIONAL, RESEARCH, AND PROFESSIONAL CAREER OBJECTIVES

EDUCATIONAL STATEMENT My unwavering desire to study engineering management erupted out of a unique quest to acquire a perfect blend of both engineering and management skills. By virtue of the knowledge to be gained, I hope to secure the cutting edge and acquire the skills required to manage a production or engineering firm. In addition, I intend to learn what it takes to be on a project management team and become a crucial ingredient to the success of such a team. I desire a different view on education and would love to diversify my knowledge and depth outside engineering. I am equally on a hunt for knowledge and insight on how sustainable brands/businesses are run and maintained. Our dreams expand our will and courage for pursuit. My thirst for knowledge doesnt end with wishes and hopes; I have taken a step further in search of a reputable and qualitative institution that can aid my dreams. And by all good standards, I found University of Central Florida a worthy choice.

PROFESSIONAL AND CAREER OBJECTIVES I believe that becoming a successful engineering manager requires training experience in business, management and engineering disciplines. The actualization of my career goals begins with getting a masters degree in engineering management but would also extend to taking short courses in administration, technology and entrepreneurship. Learners are growers and for me it is no exception, learning will never stop. In an opinion shared by many, engineering professionals that join manufacturing companies become engineering managers by default after a period of time. Technically inept managers tend to be deprived

of support by their technical team and the non-commercial managers tend to lack commercial knowledge to deliver in a market economy. They are required to learn how to manage once they are on the job. However, this has turned out to be a rather ineffective way to develop managerial skills. I share a different view and as a result, my intention is to combine the managerial aspect of things with product development. I want to be involved in the process of managing the introduction of a new product, modification of an existing product and introduction of such a product to a consumer market. I would love to combine product design and the marketing analysis which are the two major processes involved in product development. "Versatility" is the key to succeeding in this ever evolving world. Over the course of my professional and academic career, I have worked and thrived at perfecting this "virtue. I am multi-dimensional in thinking, depth and creativity. My main objective as a career person is to be part a profession I can be happy and proud of. Growing up, I was never able to sit still at a family function or outing. I always wanted to be the one helping out or making sure every event goes according to plan. It comes with no surprise at all that this organizational attribute grew with me even to the tertiary institution level. During group papers or projects at the university, I was always the one keeping up with the other students and making sure everyone performed optimally. Over time, I derive joy in efficiently managing people and resources. In a similar fashion, this is what I hope to carve a niche in and bring to the table in any establishment I find myself.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVES Research topics might be a little premature to declare at this moment, however, I am motivated to carry out a good research job that would involve generating new ideas or enhancing and improving upon previously researched areas in a bid to contribute to the knowledge base in the chosen field of topic. Taking a cue from my undergraduate final year project, research work is something I take with utmost

seriousness. My research was on The Upgrade of the Indigenous Technology for Production of Shea Butter, a substance whose relevance and importance has generally been mistaken and underutilized. The project experience unraveled the true meaning of thorough research work and opened me up to a world of discovering ideas and concepts. I pushed limits and boundaries in pursuit of a commendable and complete research output. My research findings were not only obtained from classroom teachings but also from painstaking research conducted via journals, publications, textbooks and online sources. In addition, I was able to turn to my professors, lecturers, and laboratory technicians who essentially became consultants and critics of my research work. I was able to realize my set goals and objectives over the duration of the project by utilizing project management skills. This was achieved by using a Gantt chart to map out deadlines for deliverables, make time for unforeseen challenges and using effective time management skills to ensure I remained on track for the duration. There were challenging moments when I was unable to gather the data required but I persevered in the face of adversity and strongly believe I am better prepared for the next research phase of my life.

SHORT TERM GOALS I possess and exhibit the virtues of a distinct breed, those who are not scared or overwhelmed in their pursuit to achieve their dreams, no matter how outrageous they might be sound. I am a dreamer and equally a worker; I dream the dream and work the talk. All these traits I believe should provide the perfect fit of character needed to survive as a student in your institution or perhaps any organization. My short-term goal would be to further develop analytic and management skills that will aid in making me a major success ingredient in any environment. For me, UCF represents that first big step in my path to destiny. Big dreams demand big steps. It is a big leap I must take if I am to achieve the global status I have always craved. The purpose and virtues of this institution provide a perfect environment for the growth and development of my professional

and social career. My participation in the master in engineering management program holds the key to the actualization of my engineering management and consultancy dream.
