NMHS Distance Learning Weekly Schedule starting April 7th

Distance learning refers to instruction where a student and teacher are in different locations.

Below is the schedule with rough estimated times of class occurring. That being said, during this
pandemic please be flexible with the teachers as they will use a variety of teaching methods noted
below. Please note there will be no instruction on Mondays, but teachers will send out an invite for
virtual office hours to allow students to get more assistance and support. This will also allow time for
students to catch up on assignments.

Development

NMHS staff will utilize a combination of the following instructional practices that help make distance
learning effective:

● Lessons where teachers and students simultaneously engage (synchronous learning).

These could be in the form of a virtual or live stream lesson (ex. via Google Hangout or
Zoom) or online postings of video instruction (Google Classroom or Youtube).
● Lessons where the teacher provides instruction and the material for reading, viewing, and
assignments for completion with a flexible time frame (asynchronous learning). These
lessons could include power-points with voice-over, screencasts, streaming video, or
posted lecture notes
● Teachers use lesson time to conduct lessons with their students in which they will deliver
instruction either live via Google Hangout, Zoom, or WebEx. Lessons will also be assigned
via email or posted to Google Classroom or youtube. Lessons can be recorded by the
teacher and made available to any student who missed the scheduled lesson time. Lesson
delivery depends on each teacher.
● Each subject lesson is taught twice a day, in the morning and in the afternoon. So
students will only have three lessons per day. (for example, if a student misses the ELA
lesson at 10:00, but they get the social studies lesson at 10:45 and PE lesson at 11:30,
that student can still get the ELA lesson at 12:45. This allows for learning flexibility in the
home. The only exception to this is Math. Math lessons are taught at a specific time
depending on which math class you are in.
● During any unscheduled time within the workday, teachers can be available to their
students to get questions answered.

may make it difficult for them to complete work quickly. Any work assigned will be due as determined
by the teacher. Students needing any accommodations must contact the teacher and make
arrangements.

GRADES: At this time, there has been no official decision made about grades. Here is what the CDE
says about grades and graduation. As soon as a decision is made, I will send a follow-up email.
