QUESTION 1

a) Ahmad receives a monthly allowance of RM500 from his parents. He spends 20% of this
money on his gym and fitness membership. He spent the remainder in the following ratio
of 3 : 5 : 2 on food, laundry, and public transportation. What does Ahmad pay for laundry?

a) Mrs. Pai received a RM18,000 dividend from ASBB. She decided to put all the money in
her children's accounts, Qhalish, Qalisha, and Qisha according to the ratio 3 : 4 : x . If
Qhalish received RM6,000, find:
i) the amount received by Qisha.

ii) the value of x.

a) On 17 April 2022, Ali Hitam took a personal loan of RM7,000 from a bank that charged a
simple interest rate of 15%. The loan was settled on 15 August 2022. Find:

i) the term of the loan in days using exact time.

ii) the amount paid on 15 August 2022 using Banker’s rule.

ii) the amount of interest charged.

b) Maizura took a loan from a bank that charged a simple interest rate of 7.5% per annum for
a duration of 42 months. If the interest paid was RM4,462.50, how much was the loan?

a) On 17 March 2021, Hanna saved RM9,000 in an account that offered r% simple interest
per annum. If the interest obtained on 7 June 2021 was RM150, find:

i) the approximate time of the investment.

b) Mr. Soll borrows RM 35,000 from a money lender who charges a discount rate of 6% per
annum. If Mr. Soll pays his loan at the end of three years, calculate:

i) the amount of discount charged.

ii) the amount of proceeds.

a) Five years ago, RMX was invested at a bank that offered an interest rate of 9%
compounded semi-annually. If the balance in the account today is RM13,200.24, find the
value of X.

b) Durra deposited RM20,000 into an account at an interest rate of 6% compounded


monthly. Five years later, she withdrew RM16,000 from the account. Find:

i) the amount left in her account just after the withdrawal.


(4 marks)

ii) the amount in the account 6 years after the withdrawal.

iii) the total interest earned.

b) Farrid Khameel borrowed RM7,500 at 4.5% compounded every 4 months for 5 years.
Find the amount that Farrid Khameel had to pay.
