CASE STUDY BASED QUESTION

29. Kead the following paragraph and answer the questions that follow.
An electrocardiogram records the electrical signals in your heart.
It's a common and painless test used to quickly detect heart
problems and monitor your heart's health. During an ECG, up to 12
sensors (electrodes) will be attached to your chest and limbs. The
electrodes are sticky patches with wires that connect to a monitor.
They record the electrical signals that make your heart beat. A
computer records the information and displays it as waves on a
monitor or on paper. It works on the principle that a contracting
muscle generates a small electric current that can be detected and
measured through electrodes suitably placed on the body. The
voltage is in the range of 1mV ~ 5 mV. Using this information and
concepts of current electricity, answer any four of the following
questions:
i) The voltage range in which an ECG works is
a) 1-2 V b) 1-10 V
c) 1-5 V d) 1x10-5x10-3 V
