0999-884-8527

1. Who is making this request (organization and person)? (Include contact

information)?
Mecaela S. Bilan - Teacher III of Lumanay Elementary School, Barangay.
Lumanay, Lambunao, Iloilo 5042 (09278267654),
[email protected]

2. Has your organization worked with LDS Charities in the past, if so, how and
when?
The School hasn’t worked with LDS Charities in the past.

3. Give a brief history of your organization (details pertinent to request)

The school was established in 1935 and as of this year, we have an enrolment
of 100 learners from Kindergarten to Grade 6 with seven (6) Teaching Staff,
one (1) Non-Teaching Staff and one (1) School Head.

Teachers must travel everyday by walking almost 2 kilometres. It is not easy

for them to reach the school especially during rainy season. Most of them
came late because their homes are not accessible for transportation. They are
walking 1 to 2 kilometres, passing a stream and filthy, sloppy road just to go
to school but sometimes they couldn’t make it. Other learners went to school
wearing slippers and with an empty stomach. Ever since the school was
established, the teacher used chalk and board, paper and pencil in teaching
but sometimes we used our personal laptops in delivering our lesson to
enhance the interest of learners in learning. But sad to say, the school doesn’t
own multimedia devices. We manually prepare our visual aids and other
instructional materials due to unavailability of the printer. What we always do
is to print instructional materials at home in our own expense. With that, we
don’t have time to rest and for our family. Furthermore, it is more interesting
for learners to view their lessons by using power point presentation.

4. What other partner organizations will be contributing to this project?

With the help of Parent - Teacher Association, Barangay. Officials, Barangay
Health Emergency Response Team, Disaster Risk Reduction Management,
Alumni and School Governing Council we are very much willing to help for the
success of this project.

5. Explain the need in detail. How will your request meet that need? (What
problem will this solve?)

Furthermore, it is more interesting for learners to view their lessons by using
power point presentation. The school has monthly activities and programs
that require the use of the monoblock chairs. We borrow a monoblock chairs
to office of barangay in order to facilitate the program. Every month Parent-
Teacher Association meeting is hold to address the concerns and problems of
the school with regards to the learners’ welfare.
