1. Introduction

This community service project at Pantai Kelanang, organized by UiTM students under the
CMA 493 Operation Management in Construction course, provides an opportunity to integrate
practical skills with environmental conservation efforts. The project emphasizes essential
principles of operation management, including planning, resource optimization, and effective
teamwork. Activities such as beach cleanup, recycling, and beautification aim to promote
sustainability, raise environmental awareness, and strengthen community bonds, creating a
positive and lasting impact for both participants and the local environment.

2. Objectives

1. To clean and restore the natural beauty of Pantai Kelanang, Banting, ensuring a
healthy environment for visitors and local wildlife.
2. To educate participants and the community on the importance of environmental
conservation and sustainable practices.
3. To enhance teamwork, leadership, and operational management skills among
participants through hands-on activities.

3. Project Name

WAVE OF CHANGE : “Together, We Create Cleaner Shores”

5. Target Participants

- 31 student members from UiTM Shah Alam.

- 1 lecturer supervisor.

7. Planned Activities

Initial Planning

 Obtain Permission: Contact local authorities or the Majlis Perbandaran Kuala Langat
to secure approval for conducting activities at the beach.

 Identify Focus Areas: Divide the beach into zones to ensure complete coverage of
the area.

1. Beach Cleanup Drive

 Activities:

o Assign teams to collect trash along different beach zones.

o Separate waste into biodegradable, non-biodegradable, and recyclables.

o Provide gloves, garbage bags, and trash pickers.

2. Repainting Activity

 Activities:

o Revitalize and beautify the existing structures at Pantai Kelanang to improve the

aesthetic appeal of the area.

o Participants will leave a meaningful signature, message, or artwork (with

approval) to symbolize their contribution to the project.

3. Recycling Drop-off Point

 Activities:

o Encourage participants to bring recyclable items from home to the drop-off


point.

o Common recyclable items such as paper, plastic bottles, glass, aluminum cans,
and cardboard will be accepted.

Additional Activities

1. Environmental Awareness Activities

 Upcycling Workshop: Teach students how to repurpose waste, such as plastic bottles
or used paper, into useful items like pots or decorations.

2. Arts and Creativity

 Mural Painting: Create a mural in public spaces near the beach with the theme
“Protect the Environment.”

 Crafting from Waste: Encourage students to create crafts using the collected waste
(after proper cleaning and sanitization).

3. Educational Activities

 3R Workshop (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle): Educate students on how to implement


the 3R principles in daily life.

 Composting Demonstration: Show how organic waste can be turned into compost
for gardening.

Implementation

 Gather Students: Conduct a short briefing session before starting the activities.

 Safety Check: Ensure all students wear safety gear such as gloves.

 Waste Management: Separate waste into recyclable and non-recyclable materials.

Closure

 Record and Document: Capture photos and videos for the CSR report and sharing
on social media.

Logistics and Preparation

 Equipment: Provide gloves, garbage bags (preferably biodegradable), trash pickers,


and recycling bins.

 Temporary Trash Collection Points: Set up designated areas to gather collected


waste before sending it for disposal or recycling.

 Signage: Place temporary signs to raise awareness about the cleanup and the
importance of environmental conservation.

8. Tentative Itinerary

Time Activity

7:00 a.m. Departure from UiTM Shah Alam

8:00 a.m. Arrival at Pantai Kelanang, Banting

8:10 a.m. Warm-up Session (Senamrobik):

20-minute aerobic workout to energize participants with simple exercises

and music.

8:30 a.m. Safety Briefing and Division of Teams:

Assign groups, explain cleanup zones, and outline safety measures.

8:45 a.m. Beach Cleanup Activity Begins:

Students collect trash, separate recyclables, and focus on assigned zones.

10:00 a.m. Break and Refreshments:

Provide snacks and drinks, encourage the use of reusable containers.

10:30 a.m. Workshop Upcycling:

Hands-on session to transform waste like plastic bottles into useful item.

Repainting Activity:

Painting existing structures at Pantai Kelanang

Recycling Drop-off Point:

Recyclable items such as paper, plastic bottles, glass, aluminum & e-waste

12:30 p.m. Reflection Session and Group Photo:

Gather feedback, highlight achievements, and take group pictures.

Closing Remarks and Appreciation Session:

Acknowledge contributions and share words of thanks.

11. Conclusion

This community service project provides UiTM students a meaningful opportunity to contribute

leadership, teamwork, and sustainability awareness. Through these efforts, the initiative aims
to create a lasting impact on both the participants and the local community, inspiring continued
care for the environment.
