Determination of Positive, Negative and Zero‐sequence Reactance of 3‐


phase Transformer
AIM: To determine the positive, negative and zero sequence reactance of a 3phase
Transformer.

APPARATUS:

1. Digital Voltmeter, 0-600V, AC


2. Digital Ammeter, 20A, AC
3. 3-Phase Variac, 8A
4. Wattmeter, UPF, 300V, 10A
5. Connecting Wires

(A) Measurement of Positive and Negative sequence reactance:

Circuit Diagram:

PROCEDURE:

 Connect the circuit as shown in the circuit diagram

 Using the 3-phase variac apply the rated current of the primary and note down the
voltage, current and Power.
(B) Measurement if Zero Sequence reactance:

PROCEDURE:

 Connect the circuit as shown in the circuit diagram.

 Apply the rated current to the primary of the transformer and note down voltage, current and
power.
