Good morning! Thank you so much for substituting for my classes today. If you need to get in touch with
me during the day, you can email me at [email protected] or text/call me at (301)775-7167. If the

General Routine:
1. Attendance/Rosters: rosters are included with the substitute plans. To mark attendance by class,
please put a green mark for present or yellow for absent. Attendance is only taken in
Veracross/QuakerZone for Advisory (ask someone on Team Land for assistance)
2. Seating: right now, 7th grade has assigned seating, but 8th grade does not. They should remain
at their seats to work throughout the class period. Seating charts are on the black podium.
3. Students should read directions in the slides and get necessary materials.
4. Typically, there is a journal prompt for them to copy and answer (journals are sorted by class in
bins on the counter)
5. They should not need to leave the room for water, the bathroom, or lockers unless it is a long
class (65 minutes).
6. At the end of class, they should clean up materials and push in chairs before they leave.
Today, you will only have 8th grade students during F Period. We have a guest speaker on a Zoom call
to talk about the French/Haitian Revolutions. During E Period, our 8th grade students will go to English.

8th Grade Modern World History (E and F Periods)

Topic: French and Haitian Revolutions
Task: Guest Speaker Paul Fadoul
You will have all 8th grade students only for F Period and E Period will be an additional planning period.

c. Plug the computer into the camera in the corner of the room
d. Turn on the projector and connect to the AirPlay for the audio and for students to see the
video of the speaker
e. If there is time at the end of the session, students may ask questions
f. If there is trouble connecting/setting up, please see Steve Armandt or Indigo Dow

Advisory Lesson (10:25 - 10:55)

Topic: N/A
● Door Decorating: students can continue to work on decorating our class door to be judged; the
materials are by the window and they can use anything we have in the room
● Advisory Party: we are planning a party and gift exchange for next Wednesday and they need
to finalize their food list/plan

Rehearsal Period (1:05 - 1:55)

Rehearsal Period is a quiet Study Hall unless students have an assigned rehearsal with an Arts teacher
- Science Study Skills: at 1:30, Maya, James, and Felix need to go to room 305
- Remain in Study Hall for at least the first 30 minutes; they can only go to another teacher after
that point if they have written permission from them
- Students should work silently on something academic or read a book (they all have independent
reading books with them or in their lockers for English class)

In Case of an Emergency…
- Emergency Bag: an emergency bag is available in the bin by the door. It has important
materials, as well as a packet of class rosters.
- Fire Training/Emergency: we exit out of the building in the tower stairwell by our lockers, then walk
to the grass past the football field. Have students line up by Advisory, check attendance, and
have another teacher check in your students on the Ruvna emergency app.
- Lockdown: lock the door manually and close the blinds, then move students to the corner.
