Good morning everyone! Today, I’d like to talk about three important international English exams: the PET, FCE, and CAE. These exams are offered by Cambridge English and are designed to test different levels of English proficiency. PET The first exam is the PET, which stands for Preliminary English Test. It is aimed at students who have reached the **B1 level**, or intermediate English level. This exam is practical and focuses on everyday communication in English. There are four sections in the exam: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The reading and writing part lasts about 1 hour and 30 minutes, and it tests how well you understand texts and can express yourself in writing. The listening section is about 35 minutes long and checks how well you can understand spoken English in daily situations. Finally, the speaking part, which lasts around 12 to 17 minutes, is a face-to-face conversation with an examiner. PET is ideal for people who want to improve their English for travel, work, or personal development. FCE Next, we have the FCE, which stands for First Certificate in English. This is designed for **B2 level**, or upper-intermediate learners. The FCE is a bit more advanced and is useful for people who need to use English at work or for academic purposes. Like the PET, the FCE also tests reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills, but with a stronger focus on complex situations. The exam takes about 3 hours and 30 minutes. The reading and use of English section takes 1 hour and 15 minutes, testing how well you can understand and use English. The writing section lasts 1 hour and 20 minutes, where you’ll need to write essays or reports. The listening part lasts 40 minutes, and the speaking test, which takes 14 minutes, is done face-to-face, where you’ll be asked to speak on more challenging topics. This certificate is widely accepted by employers and educational institutions. CAE Finally, the CAE, which stands for Cambridge Advanced English, is for learners who have reached the **C1 level**, or advanced level in English. This exam is often required for professional or academic settings, such as universities or high-level jobs where excellent English skills are necessary. The CAE is quite comprehensive, lasting about 4 hours in total. It has similar sections to the other exams: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The reading and use of English section lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes, the writing part takes another 1 hour and 30 minutes, and the listening test takes 40 minutes. In the speaking part, which takes 15 minutes, you’ll be expected to have in-depth discussions and express complex ideas clearly. This exam shows that you can confidently use English in professional or academic environments. Thank you for listening! I hope this information helps you understand the different levels of English exams and their purposes.
