Brief Overview:
Consequence Analysis
Consequence Analysis
A Process Safety related Incident usually results in the loss of
contaiment of hazardous material from the main process.

Consequence analysis is consist of:

Source Modelling: This describes how materials are
discharged from the process.

Dispersion Modelling: This illustrates how the materials are

transported downwind and dispersed to a certain
concentration level.

Fire and Explosion Modelling (for flammable releases):

Convert release source model information into potential
energy hazards, including thermal radiation and explosion
overpressure.

Effect Modelling: This converts incident-specific outcomes

into their effects on individuals (injury or death) and structures

Consequence models have uncertainties and arise due to Containment Dikes
1. Incomplete understanding of the geometry of release Others
2. Unknown physical properties
3. Poor understanding of the chemical or release process Risk Calculation
4. Poorly understanding of mixture behaviour
