1. What are the three layers of the earth?

Ans-The crust. The mantle and the core are the three type of the earth.

2. What is a rock?

Ans-Any natural mass of mineral, matter that up the earth crust is called rock.

3. Name three types of earth?

Ans-The three types of rock are igneous rocks, sedimenta rocks and metamorphic
rock.

4. How are extensive and intrusive rock formed?

Ans-(a) Extrusive rock-The motton lava comes out of the valcanos reaches the
earth’s surface and cook down rapidly to become a solid piece of rock this is how
extensive rocks are formed for ex-basalt.

(b) Intrusive rocks-When the matten lava solidifies deep inside the earth crust, the
rocks are formed are called intrusive rock for ex-Gramite

5. What do you mean by rock cycle?

Ans-One type of rock changes to another under. Certain conaitains like great heat
or rain in a cyclic manner this process of transformation of the rock from one
another is known as the rock cycle.

6. What are the uses of rocks?

Ans-Rocks are useful for various purpose such as-

(1) They help in making roads

(2) They are used in the construction of houses and building


(3) Small stones are used by children in different types of game

(4) They are used in fertilisers

7. What are metamorphic rocks?

Ans-When the igneous and sedimentary rocks are subjected to heat and pressure
they change into metamorphic rock. Ex-Clay changes in to state and linestone in
to marbles.
