Introduction to the AC Servo control trainer and Velocity
Control of AC Servo Motor

SUBMITTED BY:
Name: Malik Muhammad Farhan
CMS ID: 389829
Section:ME-13A

Session: Fall 2023

Semester: 5th
Objectives:
 Getting familiar with the velocity of AC servo motor
 To control the RPM of motor
 Software interface with controlling panel

Apparatus Used:
 AC servo motor control
 Multimeter

AC Servo Motor

Circuit Diagram:

Circuit Diagram of AC Servo motor control to calculate speed.

Procedure:
1. First of all, make a connection between both terminals of SRV-ON.
2. Make a connection between both terminals of ZeroSPD.
3. Make a connection between SPR/TRQR/SPL and ±10V terminals.
4. Connect the multimeter red probe to ±10V terminal and black probe to the GND
terminal.
5. Turn on the main power supply of AC servo motor apparatus.
6. Now turn the computer and open the “PANATERM ver.6.0” software.
7. Select “communication with the driver” and then click “Update” and then click “OK”.
8. Then select the driver “MINAS-A6” and then click “OK.”
9. Then click on “Parameter” and select “Read from the file” and click “OK.”
10. Then click on drop down button (highlighted red) and select “g” and then select “AC
servo data”.
11. Then click on parameter and then select “Speed.prm5” and then click “OK”. Now the
selected parameter is ready to operate.
12. Now turn on the 24V power supply button. Also turn on the Multimeter which will
display the voltage value.
13. Now increase the voltage from (0 to 10V) by clockwise rotating the knob and note the
RPM Value corresponding to that voltage. The value of RPM is found out to be negative.
14. Similarly, repeat the process for negative voltage (-9V to 0) and note down the RPM
value.
15. At the end, a graph is plotted between voltage and RPM.

Observation and Calculation:

Clockwise:
For positive value of voltage, Value of RPM was negative (Clockwise torque is negative).

Safety precautions:
1. Do not overload electrical outlets.
2. Keep water and other liquids away from electrical equipment.
3. Follow the recommended operating procedures and safety precautions provided by the
instructor.
4. Behavior of electrical hazards.
5. Do not make loose connections.
6. Make sure connections are 100% and ask instructor to check for further procedures.
7.

Discussion:
This experiment was aimed at controlling the velocity of AC servo motor by
providing setpoint in terms of voltage. It was observed that for both
clockwise and anticlockwise rotation, there was direct relation between
velocity and voltage.
