Update Instructions
Mac
1. Ensure your SSL hardware device is powered on and connected to your computer via a USB
cable. SSL 2/2+ users - please note - connecting using a USB-C to USB-C cable may not work
and the update may fail. To guarantee a successful firmware update, please use a USB-A to
USB-C cable. If your Mac only has USB C sockets, then a USB Hub that has a USB A
connection will be needed – something like this.
2. Download the SSLAudioFirmwareUpdater.zip package.
3. Within the package locate and unzip the macOS.zip. Unzip it and launch the
SslAudioFirmwareUpdater application found inside.
4. The SSL device will automatically be detected and display its current firmware version in the
application. If you have multiple SSL devices connected, select which one you want to
update using the drop-down menu in the application.
5. Select Update Device. The device will begin the update process.
6. A ‘Device Firmware update complete’ message will appear. You can now close the window.
Should the firmware update fail of be interrupted while in progress, power off the SSL
device, relaunch the updater application then power on the console once more to re-
attempt.
The image above shows what the updater application looks like when updating BiG SiX for illustrative
purposes. When updating the firmware of SSL 2/2+, PURE DRIVE etc it will look similar.
Windows
Important – you can only update one SSL device at a time. If you have multiple SSL devices, then
disconnect all other units and update one at a time.
1. Ensure you are running the latest version of SSL USB Audio Driver. Visit this FAQ to
download and install the latest version.
2. Ensure your SSL hardware device is powered on and connected to your computer via a USB
cable.
3. Download and extract the files from the SSLAudioFirmwareUpdater.zip package.

application. If you are on a 32-bit operating system, this can be found in the x86 folder. If
you are on a 64-bit operating system, this can be found in the x64 folder.
5. Once you've launched SslUsbAudioDfu.exe, the SSL device will automatically be detected
and display its current firmware version, plus a message saying, ‘Ready for firmware
update….’ in the main Upgrade window.
