a. Introduction to Company（Apple）

Apple Inc is a high-tech company in the United States. Founded by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak
and Ron Wayne on April 1, 1976, and named Apple Computer Inc., January 9, 2007, changed its
name to Apple, headquartered in California, Kubina.

Apple's December 12, 1980, public offering, in 2012 hit a record market value of 623.5 billion US
dollars, as of June 2014, Apple has for three consecutive years to become the world's largest market
value of the company. Apple ranked ninth in the world top 500 lists in 2016. September 30, 2013,
in the Omega Group's "best brand in the world" report, Apple more than Coca-Cola to become the
world's most valuable brand. In 2014, Apple brand beyond Google, become the world's most
valuable brand.

At the beginning of Apple's inception, the main development and sales of personal computers, as
of 2014 committed to the design, development, and sales of consumer electronics, computer
software, online services and personal computers. Apple's Apple II in the 1970s opened a personal
computer revolution, followed by the Macintosh relay in the 1980 continued development. The
company's hardware products are Mac computer series, iPod media player, iPhone smartphone,
and iPad tablet; online services include iCloud, iTunes Store and App Store; consumer software
includes OS X and iOS operating system, iTunes multimedia browser, Safari Web browser, as well

as iLife and iWork creative and production kits. Apple is known for its innovation in high-tech
companies.

In 1976, Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Luo Wayne three in the Cuban parent's garage founded
Apple Computer Corporation, the company was founded that year, Wozniak developed the history
of the company The first product, Apple I, this computer looks like a typewriter, you can connect
the TV to a monitor. Steve Jobs signed a first single contract with a local computer store, which
ordered 50 Apple I, $ 500 each, and Apple I eventually produced 200 units.

In 1983, John Scully became CEO of Apple

chairman.

In 2001, Mac OS X launched, iPod let the world attention, Apple launched the Mac OS X operating
system, the same year launched the iPod digital music player, and launched the iTunes paid music
download platform, beat Sony's Walkan player, become the world's highest market share of music
player. Meanwhile, Apple retail stores also officially opened.

April 5, 2006, Apple Computer introduced to allow the use of Intel microprocessors Mac computer
running Microsoft Windows XP software Boot Camp. It simplifies the installation of Windows on

company an average of one million business profits a day.

August 24, 2011, Steve Jobs resigned from Apple's chief executive officer, the board appointed
former chief operating officer Tim Cook as the company's new chief executive officer, Steve Jobs
was elected chairman. October 5, 2011, Steve Jobs died. Cook took over after the company did
not make a major change, in general, in accordance with the direction of the Jobs continue to
operate the company.

Apple 's organizational structure

User Interface

This is the Macbook Pro’s user interface, all the default software are at the bottom of the
desktop. The difencences between Macbook Pro’s desktop and Window’s desktop is the
pattern display of the default software. In the Macbook Pro’s user interface will look more
neatly and more attract. And the software display perform 3D view to Macbook Pro’s user.
Beside that, when the user open the folder on the Macbook Pro will display like the above
picture. The different is the direction button of the close, maximize and minimize. The
Macbook Pro is on top left corner whereas the window is on the top right corner.

To remove a file to theTrrash, drag the file to the Trash in the Dock. Or select one or more
files and choose File > Move to Trash or click short-cut key (Command-Delete).

To delete the files in the Trash, choose File > Empty Trash. The storage space used by those files

This is the Macbook Pro’s touch bar, it is a touch screen bar in front of the Macbook Pro’s
keyboard. The touch bar is a shortcut key and simplify the Macbook Pro’s user. The above
picture is the sample display on touch bar. It offers quick access to functions provided by
applications and by the system.

The main interface of touch bar is split into three distinct sections: macOS Sierra and displays
a Cancel, Done or Virtual ‘esc’ key where necessary. The ‘app region’ is controlled by
currently active app. For example, the user on the desktop, this is just going to be a blank
space. And when yo click into an app or select a file, it will light up with contextual buttons
and actions. Third, the control strip is another element controlled by the system and it is a
persistent tray on the right hand side with buttons to access sliders for volume, brightness,
Siri and mute.

The touch bar also can customize, it will transforms into a virtual set of normal function keys. This
behavior is configurable in the preferences.

Services and facilities provided by the OS
1. Siri

Siri helps MacBook Pro’s user to get things done just by using your own voice. Its also helps
Macbook’s Pro user to do more things done at the same time and quickly. Just use your voice
to ask the Siri what you need and command the Siri to help you find the document and file
on Macbook Pro. Siri can keep important information that will store in Notification Center
so you can access it easily. Macbook Pro’s user could via Siri to search website and location.
2. Finder

The Finder will simply to organize the files on Macbook Pro and find the browser that stored
in iCloud Drive. The Finder is same as the Window “Start”, and the first thing that you see
when your Macbook Pro finished starting up. Finder opens automatically and stays open as
you use other apps. Why called it as Finder because it helps user to organize and find the files
on Macbook Pro.
3. Spotlight

Spotlight helps Macbook Pro’s user to effortlessly and quickly find what you want, for
example apps, documents, images and other files on Macbook Pro. Autocomplete
immediately shows you relevant results and just type a few keystrokes in the Spotlight search
box. The additional features for Spotlight also include dictionary definitions and quick
calculations and currency conversions.

4. Notifications

A simple two-finger swipe brings up Notification Centre — where user can see all the alerts
that have come in recently. It is also where Macbook Pro’s user will find you Today view,
which user can customize with helpful widgets or handy information pinned from Siri
searches. For example, Macbook Pro’s user can see when there is incoming email in mail and
upcoming appoinments in calendar. That will display three type of notifications such as alert,
badge and banner.

34Process control Management

Process control is a complete part of any operating system. It is an executing program which
progresses in a continuing way. Resources are allocated when a process is created or while
executing. The operating system must enable processes to share and exchange information as
well as protect and synchronization among processes. When a program is loaded into the
memory and it becomes a process, it can be divided into four sections.

-stack: The process Stack includes the temporary data such as method or function
parameters.
-heap: flexible allocated memory to a process during its run time.
-text; contains the current activity represented by the value of program counter and the
contents of the processor’s registers.
-data: Global and static variables.
A process goes through a series of discrete process states. various events can make a process
change states. There are five states of the process states are:
-Start
-Running
-Ready
-Blocked
- Exit (terminated)

Process Scheduling

As processes enter the system, they are put on the job queue and a new process is put on the
ready queue. The process waits until it is selected for execution and given CPU
resources.Once the CPU is allocated and the process is running the process could issue an

Input/Output request and be placed on a device queue. The process could create a new sub-
process and it could be forcibly removed.

Process Control Block (PCB)

A process control block is a data structure keep up by the operating system for each process.
It is identified by an integer Process ID (PID). A PCB keeps track of each process and it also
contains information related with a specific process. Besides, PCB can store any information
that may change from process to process.

Process state The current state of the process, for example: ready, running,
waiting, blocked, terminated etc
Program counter It is a pointer to the address of the next instruction to be
executed for this process.
Memory management The information of page table, memory limits, segment table
information depending on memory used by the operating system.
CPU scheduling Priority of of the process and pointer to scheduling queues.

Input/Output status A list of I/O devices which are allocated to the process.

Process control block diagram

Memory management

Memory management is the functionality of an operating system which handles or manages

primary memory, moves processes back, forth between main memory and disk during execution.
Memory management keeps track of every memory location either it is allocated to some process
or it is free. It checks how much memory is to be ordered to process. It tracks whenever some
memory gets freed or not allocated and correspondingly it updates the status.

OS X has very efficient memory management. It automatically allocates memory and adjusts the
contents of memory as needed. The types of system memory are free, wired, active, and inactive.
The term memory as used in this article includes high-speed RAM, virtual memory, and swap files
on the Mac's drive.

Virtual Memory is a storage allocation scheme in which secondary memory can be addressed to
just as it were a piece of primary memory. Addresses a program may use to reference memory are

recognized from the addresses the memory system uses to identify physical storage site, and
program created addresses are translate automatically to the corresponding machine addresses. It
allows for large virtual memory to be provided for programmers even though physical memory is
