17. There are two sweets manufacturing factories X and Y . Factory X produces sweets with 60%
sugar while factory Y produces sweets with 80% sugar.
a. Determine the total mass of sugar in 160 kg of sweets from X and 80kg of sweets from Y. (3 marks)
b. 160kg of sweets from X were crushed together with 80kg of sweets from Y. Find the percentage of
sugar in the mixture correct to 2 decimal place. (2 marks)
c. Type X sweets costs sh. 35 per kg while Y sweets costs sh. 55 per kg , in what ratio should they
mix type X and Y in order to give a profit of 25 % when sold at ksh 50 per kg . (3 marks)

height is 80 cm is made up of a frustum top, a hemispherical bottom and the middle part is
cylindrical. The diameter of the top of the frustum is 28 cm, the base of the frustum diameter of
