- the term incentives are used by psychologist as externally controlled condition which
stimulates activity on the part of a human being or animal, it is distinguished from the term
“motive” which relates primarily to those forces from within individual which impel action on
his or her part that drives one to do something or behave in a certain way.

- this is a behavioral theory that suggest people are motivated by a drive for incentives and
reinforcement, also this theory proposes that people behave in a way that they believe will
result a reward and avoid action that can cause punishment. Incentive approach in psychology
determine the organism’s behavior in the environment, with this theory that assume the
actions of humans that cannot predict and fully understood without the understanding and
beliefs with the person that attaches with this theory.

- Maslow’s hierarchy of need is a motivational theory in psychology comprising a five-tier model
of human needs.as we can see self-actualization id the highest among in the pyramid,
according to the hierarchy of needs, self-actualization represents the highest order motivations
which drive us to realize our true potential and achieve our ideal self .As per Maslow, time in a
person’s life during which self-actualization is temporarily. And with this point of self-
actualization is a point where people have fully satisfied their lower needs and achieve their full
human potential, and it is important in our psychological needs for personal growth and
development because we are able to find the meaning and purpose of our life.

Lastly the self-determination theory of motivation
- this theory suggest that people are motivates to grow and change by three innate and
universal psychological needs, Competence, Autonomy and Relatedness. This concept of self-
determination, play an important role in when it comes with concerns people’s inherent growth
tendencies and innate psychological needs, and it is concerned with the motivation behind
choices of people . This theory of self determination came from Edward Deci and Ricard Ryan,
who first introduce their ideas in self-determination and intrinsic motivation in human
behavior.
- Intrinsic Motivation defined as the doing of an activity for its inherent satisfaction rather than
for something, when intrinsically motivated a person is moved to act for fun or challenge
entailed rather than because of external pressure or rewards. This motivation is the act of doing
something without any obvious external reward, you do it because it’s interesting and you can
enjoy it rather than an outside incentive or pressure to do it because of reward or deadline.

In conclusion this chapter talked about motivation and emotions of a certain people, it is all
about how people handle their motivation and how it works to them and how people handle
emotions and behavior. Also, the different eating disorder or problem that people experiencing
because of their psychological problem that affects their eating habits. We all need to be
familiarized the concept of eating disorder and help people that experiencing it.
