Smart Cities: Enhancing Urban Living through Technology

Hello, everyone. Welcome to our presentation. Today, we will be presenting you a

presentation on the topic of “Smart Cities: Enhancing Urban Living through
Technology.” Before we start, do you know what smart cities and their features
are? How many components are there in the topic? And how smart cities enhance
urban living through technology? If you curious what smart cities are and how they
enhance urban living through technology, you are on the right track. We have
answers for you! So, come with us and see what we will present to you.

To begin, according to textbook there are 10 components of smart cities that we are
going through today, which are Smart Manufacturing, Smart Government,
Smart Digital Citizens, Smart ICT, Smart Health, Smart Mobility,
Smart Farming, Smart Buildings, Smart Energy, and Smart
Transportation.
Then, let's explain what a clear definition of smart cities is. Smart cities refer to
urban areas where people use information and communication technology or ICT
to improve operational efficiency, share information with the public and provide a
better quality of government service and citizen welfare including transportation,
solid waste management, pollution reduction, sustainable communities, irrigation,
public safety, traffic management, healthcare and others. Next is how smart cities
enhance urban living through technology. These cities aim to address urban
challenges by implementing innovative solutions and promoting sustainability.
You will see more details about this after we go through each component.

The first component is Smart Manufacturing. What is Smart Manufacturing? Smart

Manufacturing is a technology-driven approach that utilizes Internet-connected
machinery to monitor the production process, to identify opportunities to automate
operations and use data analytics to improve manufacturing performance. Let’s us
go through an example, AI/ Machine Learning. Machine learning, a specific
branch of AI, goes hand-in-hand with smart-manufacturing data analysis, as it can
process data and recognize patterns in the data much faster than people.
Here are some benefits of using AI/ Machine Learning.
1) It helps you make more accurate predictions.
2) It can learn to recognize images and then classify them into different categories.
3) It helps mining your data.
4) It can help you with the better advertising and marketing
5)
Next, Smart Government

Smart Digital Citizens

IS DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP A THING?

The practice of a code or standard for the appropriate use of the
innumerable resources or access points provided by the digital
universe—from a computer or smartphone to more sophisticated
forms like the metaverse or AI-based engines—is referred to as
digital citizenship.

The "physical reality" has had a long time to reflect and improve
the models of morality, law, and ethics. To avoid new kinds of
neglect and abuse, these call for a special level of adaptation
within the digital medium. This goal is the main focus of digital
citizenship.

First, you learn notice about protecting your privacy and

managing your reputation considering how your online activities
affect you, other people you know, and the online community. For
example, it's illegal to hack, steal, illegally download, or damage
another person's work, identity, or property online.

key messages can encourage you to behave responsibly and

safely online while still having fun:
1. Be respectful and demand respect from others.
2. Keep your reputation safe.
3. Keep your privacy secure.
6. Be analytical.
5. Show respect and want it in return.
7. Respect for oneself and others is essential in all relationships,
and this holds true online as well.

In conclusion, people's abilities to interact with information and

technology, as well as their knowledge and other skills, improve
their equity and commitment to lifelong learning. But must
behave morally, safely, legally, and responsibly when using the
internet.

Smart ICT

Smart information and communications technology (ICT) plays a

key role in driving climate protection and intelligent urban
development.

First, we need to build and use network capacity utilization

models that are subject to constant change, necessitating
continual adjustments to the simulation models. Adaptive self-
learning algorithms are used to refine the models and adapt the
internal building and network control mechanisms. All of this is to
create a self-learning

Different data collection intervals were initially tested to ensure

the quality of the data. The data provided by the building was
evaluated using specially designed algorithms, which were also
used to identify interdependencies.

The integration and exchange of data from different sources are

the basis for the development of key applications and services for
citizens. distributed intelligent machine learning technology to
people. Citizens can use and learn about data by themselves.

The main benefit of smart ICTS are increased convenience,

improved efficiency, enhanced safety and security,
personalization, and public accessibility .

In conclusion, data from different sources should be analyzed to

create the most reliable information before disseminating it to the
public, and the people should be analyzed again before using it.

Smart Health
Smart Mobility

In essence, smart mobility is a network of intelligent

transportation and mobility. Smart mobility integrates various
facets of technology and mobility, reimagining the transportation
infrastructure used in daily life and business.

This includes employing on-demand ridesharing services like Uber

and Lyft, on-demand carsharing programs, electric automobiles,
and public transportation networks, in addition to more traditional
modes of transportation like conventional motor vehicles and
electric vehicles.

Two examples of how changes in consumer behavior are

accelerating the evolution of how people move are the decline in
private vehicle ownership and the advent of whole new mobility
options. Due to concerns about pollution, traffic congestion, lost
productivity, and money, this idea has become more popular in
the fleet industry in recent years.

A wide range of alternative modes of transportation is included in

the definition of the smart mobility ecosystem, including
conventional gas and electric vehicles, bike and scooter share
programs, autonomous vehicles, rail lines, and even augmented
traffic realities where specific modes of transportation are given
priority on the road at different times of the day.

Furthermore, smart mobility is the biggest measurable benefit

that smart mobility promises to offer to the majority of
organizations in almost every industry. A reduction in this
congestion would lead to more precise planning for the delivery of
goods and arrival timings. As a result of less traffic and improved
sight for drivers, there is also a reduction in congestion and an
increase in safety.

Smart mobility services would improve efficiency, which would

benefit the economy as well. A significant reduction in CO2
emissions and the ensuing pollution would have a good
environmental impact and enhance urban residents' quality of
life.

Smart Farming

Smart Buildings are those that use information and communications technology-
based systems, services and technology to optimize the facility’s performance.
Building systems, including heating, ventilation and security, are equipped with
networked sensors that continually provide information about the condition and
performance of those systems. An example of smart buildings is HVAC Air
Scrubber. HVAC Air Scrubber is an innovation to improve indoor air quality while
reducing energy consumption of the air conditioning system and treating indoor
polluted air by absorbing of gaseous pollutants.
Here are some benefits of using HVAC Air Scrubber.
1) It can absorb more than 30 gaseous toxic substance.
2) It helps reducing air pollution to keep the indoor air clean.
3) It can reduce the amount of electricity and electricity costs of the air
conditioning system.

Smart Energy is the process of using devices for energy-efficiency. It focuses on

powerful, sustainable renewable energy sources that promote greater eco-
friendliness while driving down costs. An example of smart energy is Solar
Energy. Solar energy is an energy from the sun. It’s the most abundant energy
resource on Earth and can be converted from radiant energy from the sun to
electrical or thermal energy. We use solar energy for many purposes, such as
powering and heating homes, businesses, utilities, and more. Solar power is a
renewable resource and, as such, is a critical part of our clean energy future.
Here are some benefits of using solar energy.
1) Solar energy is a sustainable energy source, has a low environmental impact.
2) Solar energy can help save electricity bill also.
3) Solar energy helps saving energy for future.
