Dear Families,

Welcome back from Spring Break and to a new world of home learning. I
hope this message finds you safe and healthy at home. So much has
changed in just the past week, and things continue to change daily.

First of all, I would like to thank you for all of your support. I am currently
living the struggles that many of you are dealing with right now - trying to
work from home and homeschool. I know it’s not easy.

Starting Tuesday, I will be posting math and language arts activities for
each day of the week on Google Classroom. The kids can log in (though
Clever.com) each morning and different assignments will come up for that
day. Science and social studies will be posted on the first day of the week
and must be completed by the Friday. There is flexibility in completing most
of the assignments that I post. I know that trying to juggle so much at home
can make deadlines hard to keep, so most of the assignments do not have
a daily deadline. The goal is to have them completed by the end of the
school week on Friday. The children are also expected to read at least 30
minutes each night.

I will be keeping office hours Monday- Friday from 10:30-12:00. That will
be a time when the children can email me with questions, submit Google
Classroom assignments for feedback, or we can have virtual class
meetings.

This week I would like to start out with an online reunion with all of the
kids. We can do that using Google Meet. The link will be on Google
Classroom tomorrow morning so that I can “meet” with the kids at 10:30.
The purpose of our meeting is mainly to be able to check-in. I think it will be
comforting for many of us to see each other’s’ faces again. I will also
answer any questions the children have about how home learning is going
to work.

To start this week, I will have the kids wrap up some of the activities that
we were doing before spring break. We will begin by reviewing Topic 12 in
math and on Thursday the kids will be take the test on Pearson
EasyBridge, as they normally do in class.
This is a learning experience for all of us. It will take a lot of patience and
flexibility, but I know these kids and they are up to the challenge.

Have a good evening. I can’t wait to see all of the kids' faces tomorrow
morning!

Sincerely,
Ms. Woodring
