Revisions / Descriptions
Working file saved with blank revision field, lowercase "w" at end to denote working. All
work is done on this drawing, this drawing never changes its name and as such can be XRef’d
Working Document SKI03-C-111- (Description) w into other drawings or used as a block.
Drawing/documents that need to pdf’d should be done from the P1/A version of the drawing, so the filename field is correct in the titleblock.
No work should be done on the P1/A version, once saved files should be made read only, Right click in explorer, Properties, tick the Read-only Attribute box
Previous versions should be moved to the “Old” folder
The text description of the file should appear in parenthesis () after the revision character
SKI03-C-111-A (Midship Section) The file name of midship calculations
SKI03-D-111-A (Midship Section) The file name of the Midship section drawing
Working drawings will remain same name over duration of the project
Revision letters will be added by using "save as"
A PDF copy should be made as a record of the issued drawing
The issued drawing file settings should be saved to read only
The issued drawing and working drawing shall remain in the root folder
Old / superseded revision shall be moved to old folder
Project manager should amend the Documnet Register as appropriate when issuing drawings

All similar types should follow a defined numbering hierarchy that matches calculations to drawings, documents, models and
workshop drawings.

Directory Structure
Additionally, file organisation on the main server will be based on the number/group hierarchy.
A template of the new folder/file structure will be stored on the main server and copied over
for every new job.
