Turn on your PC and download MEGA MAN ARENA, then unzip the folder and start the program.
MEGA MAN ARENA will begin. Press START to begin the game.
You will have a choice of several modes. ARENA is the default multiplayer vs. mode. If you wish to
work cooperatively against bosses of your choice, select BOSS mode. OPTIONS will allow you to
alter properties of the game, including user controls. Select EXIT GAME to quit.
When you select your GAME MODE, you will be taken to a CHARACTER SELECT screen, which has
pictures of all eight of Dr. Wiley’s Enemy Robots, plus a spot for MEGA MAN. Use the control pad to
move the fleshing box to the character you want to use.
The controls for Mega Man Arena are quite simple, but true mastery takes both practice and skill.
Pushing RIGHT and LEFT on the controller pad moves your character right and left. This works even
when he is jumping or falling. Remember this! It is a very important feature.
UP and DOWN are used for climbing up and down ladders. Anytime the pad is pushed UP and Your
Character is over a ladder, he will immediately start climbing.
The A button is used for jumping. The longer you hold the button down, the higher Your Character
will jump. If Your Character is standing still on a ladder when you try to jump, he will fall. Pushing
UP while Your Character is falling off a ladder will make him stop falling.
The X button is used for shooting your primary weapon. Unlike some super heros, Your Character
can shoot while he is jumping or falling.
The B button is used for your primary special attack, and the Y button is your secondary special
attack. These attacks will vary depending on your character choice. Special attacks will always
consume special energy. This energy will recharge over time.
It is possible that some characters’ moves may have unique directional combinations for their
attacks! Experiment while you play!
One final note: When Your Character is damaged, he is invulnerable for a second or two (30
frames). Take advantage of this time to get past tough opponents.
In each corner of the game screen is an energy meter. This shows how many more
points of damage Your Character is capable of absorbing. When the meter reaches zero
points, Your Character is eliminated from the match.
Here’s a tip: When all opposing characters are reduced to zero health points, you win!
Special weapon energy can be found to the right of the health meter. When this energy
runs out, Your Character will only be able to fire his primary weapon. Special weapon
energy recharges at a fixed rate for all of the different characters. However, each special
weapon uses a different amount of energy.
Airman is difficult to fight against. You might find that you can’t dodge his
tornadoes no matter how hard you try!
Run up close to the nearest tornado and try to jump over it. When there is
nothing between you and Airman, he is very vulnerable to your shots. Shoot as
quickly as you can before he has a chance to throw more tornados. He will
usually throw 2, 3 or 4 sets of tornadoes before a proficient player defeats him.
Good luck!
As Mega Man, you can acquire each enemy’s special power with his primary special attack. “NOW I’VE GOT YOUR POWER!”
HeatMan: The (H) Atomic Fire can throw three different sizes of fireballs. The longer you hold the fire button, the bigger the
fireball.
WoodMan: The (W) Leaf Shield creates a shield around you until you move. The leaves are then thrown in the direction the
control pad is pushed.
BubbleMan: The (B) Bubble lead is a bubble that rolls on the ground in front of you and damages what it hits.
FlshMan: The (F) Time Stopper will freeze all enemies for a little while.
MetalMan: The (M) Metal Blade is a gear. Up to three may be thrown in any direction the control pad is pushed. This is probably
the best general purpose weapon.
CrashMan: The (C) Crash Bomber can be thrown at walls and will detonate after a short delay. It may be used to get through
certain walls.
