CHAPTER TWO: BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO THE INDUSTRY
2.1 Introduction to IT Industry
Information technology (IT) is the use of computer systems or devices to access
information. Information technology is responsible for such a large portion of our
workforce, business operations and personal access to information that it comprises much
of our daily activities. Whether you are storing, retrieving, accessing or manipulating
information, IT greatly impacts our everyday lives. The first mechanical computer device
was conceptualised and invented by English mechanical engineer and polymath Charles
Babbage in the early 19th century. Called the ‘Difference Engine,’ it was originally created
to aid in navigational calculations (The History of Information Technology | Complete I.T.,
2021).
In the last fifty years, since the invention of the microprocessor, information technologies
have advanced rapidly. Today they are an essential part of commerce, and businesses of all
types have come to view IT as an essential service” (Rouse, 2024)”.
This evolution has transformed how companies operate, communicate, and interact with
their customers. The increasing availability of internet access and digital platforms, as well
as advancements in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and mobile technology, have
integrated IT into every aspect of business.
The introduction of the Internet in the 1980s and the World Wide Web in the 1990s
allowed computers to connect globally, making it easier to access and share information
(Kim Ann Zimmermann & Emspak, 2022).
Smartphones, tablets, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence were among the
breakthroughs that drove IT forward in the 2000s and 2010. IT now plays an important role
in a variety of industries and is an essential component of daily life.

systems, and calendars. In the 19th century, mechanical calculators were invented,
followed by electromechanical computers in the early 20th century.
The development of electronic computers in the 1940s marked a major turning point in
the history of IT. Electronic computers were much faster and more powerful than their
mechanical predecessors, and they led to the development of new and innovative
applications, such as artificial intelligence and space exploration.
In the 1950s and 1960s, IT continued to evolve rapidly, with the development of general-
purpose computers, integrated circuits, and the personal computer (prime it) The
invention of the Internet in the 1980s connected computers all over the world, and the
World Wide Web in the 1990s made it easy to access and share information online.
In the 2000s and 2010s, IT continued to expand and diversify, with the development of
new technologies such as smartphones, tablet computers, and artificial intelligence.
Today, IT is an essential part of our everyday lives, and it is used in a wide range of
industries and applications. The introduction of digital tools provided a new,
revolutionary way of creating graphic design. In 1984, Apple introduced the Macintosh
computer. It used a simple, user-friendly interface that said “Hello”, inviting consumers
to be a creator themselves
The history of Information Technology (IT) in Nepal has seen significant growth over the
past few decades, evolving from rudimentary computing to a more complex and modern
2
digital infrastructure. Its journey began in the early 1970s when the first computers were
introduced in government offices for statistical purposes. However, it wasn't until the
1990s, with the liberalization of the economy and the arrival of the internet that the sector
started to expand rapidly (raju, 2007). The establishment of the first Internet Service
Providers (ISPs) in 1995 marked a turning point, providing access to the global digital
world. Since then, Nepal has experienced a boom in mobile telecommunications, with
companies like Ncell and Nepal Telecom playing a pivotal role in expanding internet and
mobile coverage nationwide. In recent years, the rise of startups, IT education,
outsourcing, and government initiatives like "Digital Nepal Framework" have further
accelerated the growth of the sector. Although challenges remain, such as limited
infrastructure in rural areas and a digital divide, Nepal's IT industry continues to grow,
with increasing involvement in software development, e-commerce, fintech, and cloud
computing. This progress highlights the critical role that IT plays in the nation’s socio-
economic development.

4.2 Requirement Analysis
Requirement analysis is about figuring out what is needed for a new or updated
product or project, considering the different demands of stakeholders. This involves
looking at, documenting, validating, and managing the software or system
requirements, addressing both operational needs and limitations.
During my internship, I actively participated in requirement analysis, which helped
me grow my professional network and improve my leadership skills. With guidance
from my mentor, I was given project tasks and helped identify the necessary
resources. The organization clearly communicated the application’s current status,
goals, and future plans before assigning tasks. The friendly and informal
environment encouraged teamwork, open communication, and collaboration,
making my internship very productive.
Studying the Organization’s Workflow: I observed and studied the workflow
within the organization which included understanding how tasks were handled in
response to client requirements designing strategies, implementing solutions,
and delivering final results.
4.3 Layout Design
In graphic design, layout design is about positioning visual elements such as text
and images in a visually pleasing and clear manner. Key concepts include
alignment, contrast, and spacing to keep everything orderly and easy to navigate.
Designers frequently use grids to achieve a tidy and balanced look. An effective
layout is not only visually appealing but also helps convey the message, which is
vital for branding, advertising, and communication across print and online
platforms. A well-executed design improves how users interact with the content.

CHAPTER FIVE: CONCLUSIONS AND LESSON LEARNED
5.1 Conclusion
The three-month internship was very helpful for gaining real-world experience. We
worked on a complete system and tackled actual projects that solved real problems.
Working in groups allowed us to apply what we learned in school and get used to a
professional setting. This internship was not just about completing our education; it
was a chance to use our college knowledge in practice. In these three months, we
learned more than we did in four years of classes, focusing on what really interested
us.
12
5.2 Lesson Learnt
Being an intern has been a great way to learn new things and understand how a
software company works. This experience will definitely help me in my future
career. It was a valuable opportunity for me as a student. The internship gave me
real-world insights into the kind of work I want to do. It helped me build important
technical skills for projects like this. Overall, this internship provided experiences
that I didn't get in my classes.
