01 THE MUSEE

Museum of Nagpur

Semester 09 & 10 | Architecture Design Dissertation

Guide: Ar. Rajratna Jadhav

Location: Nagpur, Maharashtra

The thesis project is a jouney of 1 semester of research on the city of Nagpur and the other semes-
ter a continuation of the same into a design as a solution for the betterment of the question of the
dissertation. My journey started with question of WHAT IS THE TRUE IMAGE OF A CITY/ HAS THE
IDENTITY OF A PLACE AND ITS PEOPLE BEEN LOST OVER THE YEARS? With taking the example of my
own city I started finding the answer through various local means. Th final solution, by reflecting my
research and case studies was a Experiencial Museum, for people to know about their surroundings
and history. Also adding value to the tourism sector of the city. The study also included a comparison
of ornmenatation and decoration and its changing values over time.

SUN AND WIND ANALYSIS ON SITE

On site the sun travels from east to west

through south. The wind direction is majorly
from southwest to northeast. The site is oriented
slightly south west and north east direction.

The site surrounding is fully covered with trees

which lower the temperatures in the area and is
mostly shaded at most times of the year. Where
as the site front and entry is from the south side
thus blocking and shading measures are taken
to protect the façade.

Also certain measures are taken to thermally in-
