Online Platforms are designed to run online and/or via internet and provide interactive online use and

services.

Online Platforms include:

 Presentation/Visualization - Allows you to present and share presentations, infographics


and videos with other people.
o PREZI- You can use this to create presentations that helps you to reinvent the art of
presentation.
o Google Slides- is a presentation program included as part of the free, web-based Google
Docs Editors suite offered by Google.
o Slideshare- you can use this to share and upload your professional videos and slide
presentations.
o ZOHO- An online project management app that helps you to plan your work and keep
track of your progress.
 Cloud Computing - Simply called as “The cloud”
o Access anytime, anywhere.
o Instead of using your computer’s hard drive, you store and access your data and
programs over the Internet.
 Social media - Online mediated tools that allow you or group of people to make, share or
exchange data, information, thoughts etc. in the form of text, graphs, pictures, videos or
anything that you want to create and share to online communities.
 File Management - The storage, designation, categorization, and management of computer
files via internet.
o It allows you to convert and manage files without downloading tool in your computer or
device.
 Mapping - Uses GPS to detect location and used for navigation.
 Web Page Creation – This platform does not require any programming skills as they offer a
drag and drop interface and free hosting as well.
o Webpage- is a specific collection of information provided by a website and displayed to
a user in a web browser.

A content management system (CMS) is an application that is used to manage content, allowing
multiple contributors to create, edit and publish. Content in a CMS is typically stored in a database and
displayed in a presentation layer based on a set of templates like a website.

Features of a CMS:

 Content creation, allows users to easily create and format content


 Content storage, stores content in one place, in a consistent fashion.

WYSIWYG - it is the acronym for What You See is What You Get. The first true WYSIWYG editor was a
word processing program called Bravo was invented by Charles Simonyi.

BASIC WEB DESIGN ELEMENTS

 Line - The most basic type of design


o It is used for dividing space and drawing the eye to a specific location.
 Shape - Shapes, geometric or organic, add interest.
o It is defined by boundaries such as lines, colors and they are used to emphasize a
portion of the page
 Texture - It is the look and feel of a surface
 Space - Refers to the distance between shapes and forms
 Size - Refers to how big or small something is in scale to other objects.
 Value - Refers to the degree of lightness or darkness

BASIC WEB DESIGN PRINCIPLE

 BALANCE - It occurs when all the design elements are equally distributed in the screen
 EMPHASIS - Elements that stands out and get notice first.
 RHTYHM - It is the pattern created by repeating elements.
 UNITY - Achieved when all the design elements relate to one another and project a sense of
completeness.
 CONTRAST - It increases the visual differences in size, shape, and colors between the elements
to enhance the perception of a message intended.

COLLABORATION - It is an act of working with someone to produce or create something.

Online collaboration - is a process of communicating online that produces or creates something that
might be very beneficial.

BASIC EXAMPLES OF COLLABORATIVE TOOLS

 Voice Mail – a computer-based system that allows users and subscribers to exchange personal
voice messages.
 VoIP- is a methodology and group of technologies for the delivery of voice communications and
multimedia sessions over Internet Protocol (IP) network such as the internet
 Email-is a method of exchanging digital messages between computer users
 Instant Messaging - is a type of online chat which offers real-time text transmission over the
Internet.

Social Chat

 Google Chat- Allows you to send and receive instant messages with anyone in the group team.
 Google Hangouts - allows you to talk face to face from your computer. Make free video calls
with up to 10 people.
 Skypes - provide video chat and video call services. Users may exchange digital documents such
as images, text, video and others.
 Viber - is an instant messaging app and Voice over IP app for smartphones. It can also exchange
images, video and audio media messages.
 Kakao Talk- is a free mobile internet messaging application for smartphones with free text and
free call features.
 WeChat - is a mobile text and voice messaging communication service.

VIBER

 It is also owned by Japanese multinational company Rakuten.


 It was launched on 2nd December, 2019.

Today's generation has been greatly reliant on the use of Information and Communications Technology

EDSA PEOPLE POWER REVOLUTION

 A major protest that took place along EDSA from February 22 to 25, 1986 involving 2 million
Filipinos from different sectors
 Veritas 846 Ang Radyo ng Simbahan
 Cardinal Sin encouraged the Filipinos to help end the regime of the former President Ferdinand
Marcos through Radyo Veritas which helped change the course of history.

 Also known as the 2001 EDSA Revolution


 Happened during Jan 17-21, 2001.
 It was fueled after 11 prosecutors of then-President Joseph Estrada walked out of the
impeachment trial.
 As a result, the people in EDSA grew over the course of a few days through text brigades

MILLION PEOPLE MARCH

 A series of protests mainly took place in Luneta Park from Aug 22 to 26, 2013. There were
several demonstrations that happened around the key cities in the Philippines and some
locations overseas. It was to condemn the misuse of the Priority Development Assistance Fund
(PDAF)
 Though dubbed as the Million People March, the number of total attendees was only around
400,000. The organizers and promoters of the protest used Facebook and Change.org as their
mediums.

YOLANDA PEOPLE FINDER

 Recent storms in the Philippines gave birth to the People Finder database powered by Google.
During typhoon Yolanda, the People Finder was a vital tool for people across the globe to track
the situation of their relatives. This proved to be successful and is now adapted by more
organizations to help people track relatives during calamities.

Change.org

 It is dubbed as the "world's platform for change" where anyone from the online community can
create a petition and ask others to sign it
 It gives access to more people by allowing the online community to affix their digital signatures
on a petition.
 Its mission is to help people from around the world create the change they want to see.

What is Statistics?

 It is a branch of mathematics dealing with the collection, analysis, interpretation, and


presentation of masses of numerical data.

Importance of Statistics

 Statistics can be used to inquire almost any field of study to investigate why things happen,
when they occur, and whether its reoccurrence is predictable.

Monitoring Site Statistics on Different Platforms

There are plenty of ways to check the statistics of your websites. Most of them are free for you to use;
some require a premium account

1. Wordpress
 WordPress is a powerful publishing platform which allows both users with no coding experience
and developers alike to create and share content quickly and easily.
 Once you log in to your account, you are on the Reader Tab by default. Simply Click on My Sites
and from there you will see the statistics for your blog.
2. Facebook
 In your Facebook page, a summary of the statistics will appear on the right side of your
cover photo
 Clicking on the Insights tab will give you more in-depth statistics
A. Page Overview - contains the summary of statistics
a. Reach: Organic - Your posts seen through the page's wall, shares by users,
and the news feed.
b. Reach: Paid Your posts seen through paid ads
c. Post Click - Number of clicks done to your posts

Likes, Comments, and Shares Actual interaction done by your audience either through liking the post,
commenting on it, or sharing it on their walls.

B. Reach - contains information about the number of people who has reached by your
post
C. Audience – contains statistics about your audience's demographic (age, location,
gender, language and country.
D. Likes - contains the statistics about the trend of page likes
E. Visits - contains data of the number of times your page tabs (like the Timeline) are
visited
