She went to paint the guards' faces with Duncan's blood so people think they are guilty of
the crime.
14) What is the first reaction to the King's death and whose is it?
He kills them in fury. He claims that in his great fury he killed them without thinking.
16) What symbolism does Lady Macbeth's fainting have and how is it ironic?
It gives the people the sense that she is completely shocked that the King has been
murdered. It is ironic because she planned the entire thing.
17) What did Malcolm and Donalbain decide to do after their father's murder and why ?
Malcolm decided to flee to England and Donalbain to Ireland because they fear that they
may be the next to be killed.
Because people think that the king's sons fled because they were responsible for the
murder.

19) Why does Macbeth have Banquo killed?
Macbeth fears that Banquo's children will end up with the throne and he doesn't want that
to happen.
He is already guilty enough from killing Duncan and doesn't want to have more guilt by
killing his friend Banquo.
21) How does Macbeth feel with his new found power?
He is very insecure about having one of his enemies take it from him.
22) What happens when the murderers try to kill Banquo and his son?
It makes him completely insane. He knows that he can never be free of the guilt connected
with the murders of his friends.

He decided to travel to England to ask king Edward for help and send an army against
Macbeth .

murder and the knocking on the door they heard after the murder.

what they would do because they were afraid that the traitor who killed their father would
kill them , so they decided to flee .

Macbeth to the two murderers who he asked them to kill Banquo because he doesn't want
to lose the support of many important people who are Banquo's friends.He really was
afraid that his children will be kings as the witches said.
Lady Macbeth to Macbeth after the strange things he did and said in front of the lords he
invited in their castle because he saw the ghost of Banquo sitting on his chair.

Paraphrase :
Lines ( 1-2): The poet compares his beloved to a summer day .She is lovelier and more
temperate.
Lines ( 3-4) : Summer's beauty can be shaken and it fades away too quickly.
Lines ( 5-6) :sometimes the sun is far too hot , and often it is too cool , dimmed by clouds
and shade.
