A. Very short answer types questions:


1) Define human resource.
Ans: Human resources can be defined as resource that resides in the knowledge,
skills and motivations of people.
2) What is the distribution pattern of population in India?
Ans: The distribution of population is best understood not just in terms of the numbers
living in a country, but also in terms of the numbers living in a unit area.
3) What is the sex ratio in India?
Ans: In the population census of 2011, it was revealed that the Nation's average sex
ratio is 940 females per 1000 males.
4) What is skilled human resource/worker?
Ans: A skilled human resources or worker refers to the persons who are trained, well
educated, energetic and experienced.
5) What is unskilled worker?
Ans: An unskilled worker is one who does operations which require little experience.

B. Short answer type questions:


1) Discuss the meaning of human resource.
Ans: -Human resource is used to describe both, the people who work for a
company or organisation, and the department responsible for managing resources
related to employee.
2) Discuss the rural-urban population distribution in India.
Ans: Nearly 70% of the country's population lives in rural areas. Of the 121 crore
Indians, 83.3 crore live in rural areas while 37.7 crore stay in urban areas, said the
Census of India's 2011. For the first time since Independence, the absolute increase
in population is more in urban areas than in rural areas.
3) Differentiate between skilled and unskilled human resource.
Ans: The skilled persons who are trained, well educated, energetic and experienced.
They gain technical training or skill. Skilled human resource is capable of doing any
specific work in a balanced way and efficiently. They play an important role in socio-
economic development. Examples: teachers, lawyers, doctors, engineers etc.
An unskilled human resource is one who possess no special training and whose work
involves simple duties. It is associated with limited skills and minimal economic
value. They lack technical training or skills. Examples: Peon, Watchman, Cleaner etc
C. Long answers type questions:
1) Discuss population as a resource.
Ans: The people of a country are its real wealth because it is they who make use of
available resources, add value, make policies and implement them. The all-round
development of a country, its progress, and optimum utilization of resources depend
more today on the quality of its population than mere size of the population. The
distribution of population in India depends also on the physical and mental health of
the people, their skills, awareness and technical knowledge. The citizens should be
able to use their resources in the best possible manner.
2) Discuss distribution and density of population in India.
Ans: The distribution of population in India depends mainly on physical features,
climatic conditions, means of communication, development of agriculture and
industries etc. India is an agricultural country and more than 70% of the people living
in India depend on agriculture. It is the main occupation of 82% of the Indian people
living in rural areas. In recent years, the density of population has increased in the
areas where industries have been set up. Kolkata Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai etc. are
business centres. In India the density of population has increased from 77 persons per
sq km in 1901 to 117 persons per sq km in 1951 and 382 persons per sq km in 2011.

3) Discuss the impact of skilled human resource on the socio-economic


development of the country.
Ans: Health and education both are essential in developing for human resources. A
healthy population is a pre-requisite for a successful development. Good health not
only gives a longer life span, but also, it helps in raising return to investments in
education, as a healthy educated person’s work adds to the productivity of the
economy.
Education makes man positive-minded, well refined and flexible. It makes
man to choose the right path in his life and takes him to the world of prosperity.
Education will also raise awareness about basic sanitation and hygiene and lower
the chances of an individual getting ill.
