CIRCLES( WORKSHEET)
CLASS 10

1.ABC is an isosceles triangle in which AB = AC which is circumscribed about a circle as shown in the
figure. Show that BC is bisected at the point of contact.

2.In the given figure, TP and TQ are tangents from T to the circle with centre O and R is any point on
the circle. If AB is a tangent to the circle at R, prove that : TA + AR = TB + BR

3.Two circles with centres X and Y touch externally at P. If tangents AT and BT meet the common
tangent at T, then prove that AT = BT.

4. In the given figure, tangents AC and AB are drawn to a circle from a point A such that <BAC=30°. A
chord BD is drawn parallel to the tangent AC. Find< DBC.

5. PT and QT are two tangents to the circle. If <PTQ = 50 , find <PSQ and <OPQ

6. In the given fig. MA and MB are tangents from M to the circle with centre O. E is a point on the circle.
Prove that MC +CE =MD +DE

7. Prove that the tangents at the extremities of any chord makes equal angles with the chord.
8.If two tangents are drawn to a circle from an external point, then prove that they are equally
inclined to the line segment, joining the centre to that point.
9. In two concentric circles, prove that a chord of larger circle which is tangent to a smaller circle is
bisected at the point of contact.
10. PA and PB are tangents from point P to the circle with centre O as shown in figure. At point M, a
tangent is drawn cutting PA at K and PB at N. Prove that KN=AK+BN.

11. In the given figure, if BC=4.5cm, find the length of AB.

12.Two tangents TP and TQ are drawn to a circle with centre O, from an external point T. Prove that <
PTQ = 2< OPQ
13.ABC is a right angled triangle, right angled at B, such that BC=6 cm and AB=8 cm, find the radius of
its incircle.
14.A circle touches the side BC of a ΔABC at point P and touches AB and AC when produced at Q and R
respectively. Show that AQ=1/2 perimeter of ΔABC
15.In the given figure ‘O’ is the centre of the circle. Determine <AQB and <AMB, if PA and PB are
tangents and, <APB = 75

16.In the given figure, from an external point P, tangents PX and PY are drawn to a circle with centre O.
If AB is another tangent to the circle at C and PX=14 cm, find the perimeter of ΔPAB.

17.In the figure a circle is inscribed in a quadrilateral ABCD in which <B=90. If AD=23 cm, AB=29 cm
and DS=5 cm find the radius of the in circle.

18.Two concentric circles are of radii 5 cm and 3 cm and centre at O. Two tangents PA and PB are
drawn to two circles from an external point P such that AP = 12 cm (see figure). Find length of BP.

19.In fig. Two circles with centre A and B touch each externally. PM=15 cm is tangent to circle with
centre A and QN =13 cm is tangent to circle with centre B from external point Q. If PA=17 cm and BQ =
12 cm. Find the distance between the centres A and B of circles.

20.In fig the tangent at a point C of a circle and a diameter AB when extended intersect at P . If ∠PCA=
130˚, find ∠CBA.

21.In a right triangle ABC in which ∠B =90˚ , a circle is drawn with AB as diameter intersecting the
hypotenuse AC at P. Prove that the tangent to the circle at P bisects BC.

22.A is a point at a distance 10 cm from the centre O of a circle of radius 6 cm. AP and AQ are the
tangents to the circle at P and Q . If a tangent BC is drawn at a point R lying on the minor arc PQ to
intersect AP at B and AQ at C, find the perimeter of the ∆ABC.

23.In an isosceles triangle ABC , in which AB = AC=6cm, is inscribed in circle of radius 9cm . Find the
area of the triangle.
