ABSTRACT
The study was conducted in Arusha District Council at Sinon Ward. The general objective of the
study was to study the field attachment of the Sinon Ward which was to look on the difference
activities that are takes place in the Ward and other social services that are provided by
government to the people who live in Sinon Ward, during the study students learn and observe
different activities that are undertaken at Sinon Ward, in the process of studying the field
attachment of Sinon Ward, WEO of Sinon Ward provided student with different data that are
based on different activities that are takes place within the Ward and other important social
service that are needed by people and also the service that are provided by the government to
people like education, health, infrastructure and other service and also the study need student to
known the area that the Ward cover and all the roads that are passing within the respective ward,
also the source of water that people of Sinon that are most used by people of Sinon the student
are provided also to know the economic activity like industries that are available within the ward
and what source of electricity that are mostly used by people if is solar power or the other source
of power. During the study student also looks on source of income that people of Sinon perform
in order to improve the living standard of their lives and source that government use to get tax in
the Ward.

administration staff members at Sinon Ward who gave me co operation during the field work and

And also special thanks for supervisor Professor Omary Mzirai for make effort during field
work and writing report in order to be successful.

CHAPTER ONE
1.0 INTRODUCTION
The field attachment was conducted at Sinon Ward in Arusha District, the IRDP students was
involved and participate in all activities that should be conducted in Ward level. The aims of
conduct field attachment were to enable students to his or her to require knowledge and skills
from learning theoretically from your class to practically. To practically students conduct field
attachment under supervision. To participate and make co operation in all activities which were
conducted in office.

1.1.2 Physical Features
1.1.2.1 Vegetation
Sinon Ward is covered by both natural vegetation includes grasses scattered tree as well as
shrubs and artificial vegetation different tree that planted by man for the purpose shadow and
fruits.
1.1.2.2 Climate
1.1.2.3 Temperature
The climatic condition is characterized by dry semi-desert climate due to nature of regional. The
average maximum and minimum annual temperature is 28.4 Ċ and 16 Ċ.
1.1.2.4 Rainfall
The ward gets moderate rainfall: 500 mm to 1000 mm per year; and average rainfall of 47.5mm.
It begins in November and ends April. During these period some people different activities like
plant different tree and vegetables.

1.1.2.5 Administrative Setup
Administratively in Sinon ward divided into five (7) divisions of Mtaa namely; Olmokea,
Onjavutiani, olevolosi, Engosengiumlimani and Migungani its shows in Figure 1.The
Organization chart that show the Sinon administrative part. As it shows Figure 1 Organization

1.1.3.1 Health
Sinon ward there three dispensary known as St. Anna in Migungan mtaa and Makerei
dispensary olmokea and terresa medical care dispensary and large number of people from Sinon
ward and other area use those dispesary to get medical treatment and improve health of the
people also those hospital treat different disease like HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Typhoid, as well as
Tuberculosis.
1.1.3.2 Education
Sinoni ward had three public schools namely Sinonii primary school, Engosengiu primary school
and Ukombozi primary school and Private school are Ghati memorial pre and primary school,
Royal pre and primary school ,Camp Joshua pre and primary school and Heda pre and primary
school also there were three secondary schools only in which one school is government that is
sinoni secondary school while other remain are private school which are Edmund rice sinon
secondary School and Islamic boys
Also in other hand education policy support increase number of students registration in school
and help to increase performance for the difference level due to high skills and knowledge that
available in your school.

There are three secondary school two is private secondary which is Edimund rais secondary
school found at Engosengiu street and another is Islamic boy secondary school found at olmokea
and one government school which is Sinon secondary school found in Olmokea
1.1.3.3 Water
In Sinon Ward water depends on WATER COMMITEE that responsible supply water service at
Arusha District. Also availability of water service in Sinon Ward is moderate so government and
private sector should increase effort to provide water service in community in order to improve
standard of living at Arusha District.
1.1.3.4 Roads
In Sinon ward there different Roads that available and provide transport service in community
Also these Roads network include trunk road 4.9km, regional roads 13.5 km, and ward roads
5.6km feeder roads 6.5km. Through these situation Sinon ward roads service is good compare to
other area in Sinon District.
1.1.4.2 Business
In Sinon Ward high number of people conduct different activities around Sinon center and other
part of street these business activities like sell fruits and vegetables, mix shop as well as furniture
people supposed increase profitability in terms of money and improve standard of living due
accessibility of social needs for family level.

1.1.4.3 Livestock keeping
In Sinon Ward there low numbers of people conduct animal keeping due to government policy
that Burned people around city not allowed to kept more animals than rural area and in other
help these situation help protection environment in large part around city.
Sinoni ward is among the Ward found in Arusha city council. . Sinon is an administrative ward
at Arusha District in Arusha Region of Tanzania The ward was originally derived from sokoni
one ward in 2014 and called sinoni. The ward consist of seven (7) street which are
Engosengiu ,Mlimani , Olmokea ,Olnjavutian ,Migungani , Makaomapya ,Olevolosi ward was
called sinoni because of the availability of large area covered by trees

Sinon ward has seven streets which are Migungani, olmokea, Makao mapya, Onjavutia,
Olevolosi, Mlimani and Engesengiu . The following are distribution of population per each Mtaa.
Muungano has total population of 3981 which 1847 for men and 2134 for women, Tengere had a
total population of 1430 which 614 men and 816 women, Maganzo had a total population of 330
which 113 for men and 215 women, Kilimahewa which had a total population of 1090 which
470 men and 620 women and last Mtaa is known as Sinon. Those names of four streets where
coming from different stories, the citizen of Sinon they were decided to name their streets
according to the ancestral stories example Mbulu street, Mbulu he was a famous book writer and
he used to live at Sinon ward and that why they decided to name Mbulu Mtaa by his name due to
his famous.

2.0 PRESENTATION OF EXPERIENCES FROM THE FIELD
2.1 Description of Student Involvement in the Village Activities
First week
Reporting and orientation, these week student report in District Executive Director (DED). this
week Ward Executive Officer (WEO) at Sinon Ward provide difference information about office
and Ward in general that help to perform well relation to other departments such as community
development officer (CDO), Health Officer (HO), social welfare officer (SWO), Agriculture
officer (AO), and Ward Tribunal session (WTS)
Second week
Attend Nutrition meeting, these week Health Officer provide difference information about
nutrition for mother and children also these meeting associated with large number of people
around Sinon Ward in to improve health of mother and children as whole. And during the
meeting provide some broadcast that help to spread education.
Third week
Supply contract for business man. these week students and market officer response to prepare
and supply contract for business man around Sinon market these contract help to accumulate tax
that return to government and helping provision difference social services to community like
water service, health services as well as electricity supply that ensure good economic condition
in country.
Lastly week
Prepare social economic profile for Ward, students response to update data through data
collection especially secondary data that help to provide difference information about social
economic at Sinon Ward also in other hand these information helps to allocate and provide
difference social services in community according to population that available.

2.2 Achievements and challenges faced by the Sinon ward
These sub topic show some challenges and achievement that occurs in Sinon due to different
projects that provides with government sector help to improvement of economic development in
Ward.
Improvement of security, in Sinon Ward the security services is more best level compare to
other area due to people follow rules and regulations of United Republic of Tanzania to endure
peace and Security in community.
Drug abuse; some people around difference street at Sinon Ward affected by drug abuse for
these cause spread of diseases from one person to another example HIV/HIDs also there some
effects of drug abuse like death of people, create dependency people as well as shortage of
workforce and for these situations causes low production of goods and services in large quantity
and quality.
Shortage of facilities or equipment; higher number of people in Sinon Ward faced by these
problem cause production of difference social economic activities like cultivate vegetables, and
machine that can be used to produce product that turned in market for sell.

3.0 CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
3.1 Conclusion
In order to promote development of Sinon Ward. Both public sector and private sector to
participate on issue of improve development efficiency and effective through provision of social
services like health center, education center, water electricity supply as well as infrastructure
system also through difference agency support to overcome some challenges that facing
community.
3.2 Recommendations
I recommend that those challenges that facing the ward should overcome through provide
education and counseling to the people, provide loan and credit as well as increase facilities and
equipment in order to promote efficiency and effectively development. Also in other hand Sinon
ward both private and government sector should engage in all activities to promote development.
