2. Performing the Activity

Ask the Pupil to work in 2 groups in solving the
problem.

Group 1: Simplify the word problem into an

equation and find the percentage.

Group 2: Find the Percentage of the given

problem using the table below.
RATE BASE PERCENTAGE

Group 3: Underline the Rate, encircle the

Base and Box the Percentage in the given
equation below.

40% of 100 is 40

Group 4: Match the Column A with Column

B

A B
1. ______It represents the A. PERCENTAG
whole or total. E
2. ______It is the part of
the whole.
3. _____An element has B. RATE
the symbol percent
(%)
C. BASE

3. Analysis
How do we solve for the percentage?
Did you move the decimal point of the rate from
the right to left?
How many moves of decimal point do we move?

4. Abstraction
Explain how to find the percentage. Use this
problem.

Gonzales’ Family Weekly Budget of P 2,000.00

Food ---------------------------------------- 65% of P

2,000=
School Supplies -------------------------- 7% of P 2,000
=
Fare ----------------------------------------- 8% of P 2,000 =
Savings ------------------------------------- 20% 0f P 2,000
=

Find the percentage of each by changing percent

to decimal.
1. 12% of 40 = _______ 3. 11% of 90=
________
2. 75% of 300 = ______ 4. 36% of 150=
_______

5. Summarizing the Lesson

Elicit from the pupils the ways of finding the
percent of the given number. Guide them to
generalize that finding the percent of a whole is
also finding the part of the whole. To find the
percentage use the formula: Percentage = Rate
x Base (P=RXB)
4.3 Performing the Direction: Complete the Table
Activities BASE RATE PERCENTAGE
(10 minutes) 80 5%
150 12%
5. Assessment (Indicate whether it is thru Observation and/or
talking/conferencing to learners and/or Analysis of Learner’s Products and/or Tests)
Written Test A. Direction: Find the percentage
10 minutes 1. 25% of 200 =
2. 15% of 125 =
B. Solve the following problem:
3. Dorothy picks 16 guavas. She sold 25% of
them. How many guavas did she sell?
4. Philippines has 2000 species of Eagle. Almost
70% of the species of the Philippine eagle is
in danger of extinction. How many species is
endangered?

a 30% sale. How much did Rowena pay for
the shoe?

and/or Enhancement of the day’s lesson or Preparation for a new lesson)
Preparation for the next Direction: Answer the following.
Lesson 1. What is 25% of 4?
3 minutes 2. N is 50% of 2.
7. Wrap-up/Concluding KEEP IN MIND!!!!!
