Dear Emma,
I just got back from my trip to Vietnam! I went there with my friends, Jess and Matt.
While we were there, we went to My Son in Quang Nam. It’s a really incredible place
and definitely among the most interesting archaeological sites in Southeast Asia.
My Son is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that dates back as early as the 4 th Century
CE. The site is in a picturesque valley close to Hon Quap or ‘Cat’s Tooth’ mountain
in Quang Nam. It is also near the start of the Thu Bon River. The site has a collection
of ruined Hindu tower-temples that the Cham people built between the 4 th and 13th
century CE. We arrived at My Son at around 6 am and had breakfast and then we
explored the site and saw over 70 temples. Some of them had some amazing artwork
on the walls. The temples were so amazing that I took lots of pictures.
But that wasn’t the only thing to do at My Son. As well as learning a lot about the
history of the site and the Cham people, we watched a Cham performance with
dancing and live music. We also rented some traditional Cham costumes and took
photographs of ourselves wearing them. It was so much fun! I bought some souvenirs
for from the souvenir shops on the site. I can't wait to give them to my family.
Our visit to My Son was so amazing. You should definitely visit it when you go to
Vietnam. It’s an amazing ancient site.

Kevin: Hi, world travellers. Kevin, here. Welcome to my podcast. Today, I want to
talk about my trip to Angkor Archaeological Park. I wanted to learn about the site
first, so I went on a guided tour of the Angkor National Museum in Siem Reap. It was
very interesting. After that, I got the chance to walk around the narrow streets and
look around a local market. It was really busy, though and there were lots of people
walking around and looking at all the handmade crafts. The locals there sold me some
beautiful souvenirs. On the day I went to see Angkor Wat, I got breakfast and coffee
from a food stall at the entrance first of all. Then I went on a tuk tuk ride around the
site. Angkor Wat is really amazing! The temple is beautiful and I took lots of photos
of it. Did you know that they built it in the 12 th century? The site is much bigger than I
thought. I didn’t get to see very much of it in only one day, but I did see Angkor
Thom. It is incredible! The most impressive thing for me was Bayon Temple, which
has 54 towers with carvings of around 216 faces on them. I couldn’t believe how
amazing and detailed they were! I definitely want to go back and see some more.
Listeners, you really need to visit Angkor Archaeological Park!
