ALGEBRA TRANSLATOR

TASK 1 Translate words into algebra

Rewrite the following statements as algebraic expressions, and vice versa.

Expression in words Algebraic expression

Double a number then add 5 2 × x + 5 or 2x + 5

The sum of a number and 14

Triple a number

Double a number

Add 5 to a number then double it

Take 14 from a number
