1. a) A shipment of raw materials worth Rs.750 000 incurs a custom duty of 15%.
(i) How much is the custom duty? [2]
(ii) If the importer also needs to pay an additional 5% service charge on the value of [2]

charge?
b) A seller of televisions buys a television for Rs.50 000 and marks its selling price so that
he earns a profit of 20%. When selling the television, if the payment is done outright, a
discount of 10% is offered to the customer.

c) It took a man 3 years to settle a loan of Rs.100 000 borrowed at an annual simple rate of [2]

4. a) It is required to buy cricket bats and balls for sports practices in the schools A and B. It
costs Rs.6160 to buy 3 cricket bats and 8 balls for school A. It costs Rs.4000 to buy 2
cricket bats and 5 balls for school B.
