Gaudeamus igitur Interpretation
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gaudeamus igitur, While we’re young, let us rejoice,
Iuvenes dum sumus! Singing out in gleeful tones;
Post iucundam iuventutem After youth’s delightful frolic,
Post molestam senectutem And old age (so melancholic!),
Nos habebit humus. Earth will cover our bones.
Ubi sunt, qui ante nos Where are those who trod this globe
In mundo fuere, In the years before us?
Vadite ad superos, They in hellish fires below,
Transite ad inferos, Or in Heaven’s kindly glow,
Ubi iam fuere. Swell th’ eternal chorus.
Vita nostra brevis est, Life is short and all too soon
Brevi finietur, We emit our final gasp;
Venit mors velociter, Death ere long is on our back;
Rapit nos atrociter, Terrible is his attack;
Nemini parcetur. None escapes his dread grasp.

certified from British Columbia, Canada
teaching Business Studies and Calculus,
certified by College Board-USA. He has been
teaching for 26 years, of which 22 years
has been in the diaspora. He has taught
the American Common 56 Core curriculum,
Canadian British Columbia curriculum, The
Cambridge high school curriculum, the
Botswana national curriculum and the
Zambian school curriculum. He is also a
course tutor with The University of London
in Financial Management. His research
interests are Entrepreneurship Education
(EE), Education Management and Finance.
41
Findings show that the levels of IEO is
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
generally higher among all students, but male
students exhibited a higher level of IEO than
female students with a small difference
between the levels that is not statistically
significant (t = 0.129, p = 0.904). The study
also reveals that there is a significant gender
imbalance among students in favor of male
students in TEVET institutions. Overall,
Entrepreneurship Education (EE) programs
provided in TEVET institutions have been found
to have a positive influence towards enhancing
student’s Individual Entrepreneurial Orientation
(IEO).
