I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to.
a. Determine the software programs for creating cartoon characters.
b. Explain ideas about the cartoon character.
c. Appreciate the elements and principles applied in comic art.
III. PROCEDURES:
A. ELICIT
The teacher will review the previous lesson.
B. ENGAGE
The teacher will show a PowerPoint presentation featuring
popular cartoon characters and animations, asking students to
share their favorite characters and why they like them.
The learners will participate in the discussion, expressing their
opinions and insights about different cartoon characters and their
characteristics.

Adobe Animate
Adobe Animate is a powerful tool for creating animations and vector graphics. It’s widely
used for creating cartoons and animated characters.
Key Features:
o Vector Graphics: Allows for the creation of scalable character designs that
maintain quality at any size.
o Rigging System: Offers a bone tool for character rigging, enabling easy
manipulation of character joints and movements.

Canva is a versatile online design tool that, while not specifically designed for
animation, allows for the creation of static and animated graphics, including cartoon
characters.

Procreate is a popular digital painting app for iPad that many artists use to create
detailed cartoon characters.

o Touch and Pencil Support: Utilizes the iPad’s touch interface and Apple
Pencil for precise control.
5. Blender
Blender is primarily known as a 3D modeling software but also includes features for
creating 2D animations and cartoon characters.

D. EXPLAIN
The teacher will explain the key concepts behind character
design, including character traits, personality, and visual appeal.
Discuss how elements (line, shape, color) and principles
(balance, contrast) apply to cartoon character design.
The learners will summarize the key ideas learned, offering
explanations of what makes a cartoon character effective and
memorable based on the elements and principles discussed.
E. ELABORATE
The teacher will provide examples of different cartoon character
designs, discussing how different styles convey various emotions
or messages. Guide students through a character creation activity
using paper or digital tools.
The learners will create their own cartoon character, applying the
design principles discussed. They can choose to use drawing
materials or digital software, depending on availability.
F. EVALUATION
The teacher will facilitate a class critique session where
students can showcase their characters and receive
constructive feedback from their peers. Encourage discussions
about the design elements and principles used in each
character.
The learners will present their cartoon characters to the class,
explaining their design choices and how they incorporated
elements and principles of comic art.
G. EXPAND
- Encourage students to think about storytelling and how their
characters could fit into a larger narrative. Suggest they create a
